I have a bmw 323ii year 2000 and on my dash borad a reading says, service engine soon ? what is the problem and how i can fix it ?

The light is yellow or orange in color. it is an emmision control warning light. it is not an OIL CHANGE reminder. as long as it is not flashing when the motor is running you should be ok to drive the car untill you can get it looked at. the car has an on board computer that will give a technician a stored trouble code along with freeze frame data to locate the emission related failure.

What u need to do first is go to advanced auto parts and have them put a obd2 scanner, and scan the code, this will tell you what the problem is..keith..

why not photo the light, or read the manual.

if the CEL/SES or MIL lamp glows you must SCAN the PCM.

Sounds to me like it's a variation of the 'service engine soon' light found on GM vehicles. Check for codes.

this is your check engine or service engine soon light or mil {malfunction indicator lamp} your ecm has detected a fault in the systems it monitors and should have a diagnostic trouble code stored you will need to hook to a scanner /code reader and read codes this will tell reason light came on and loss of power if you have a auto zone nearby they provide this service free of charge

Engine block amber light
sounds like your check engine light is on. On 99ish 3 series the check engine light was an amber engine in the instrument cluster. I thought 5 series actually said service engine soon. If you cycle your key the bulb check should illuminate all lights. see if you have a light that says service engine soon, if not, the amber engine, is the check engine light.

YES. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL STARTS TO CLEAR THE CODE AND TURN THE LIGHT OUT. OOORRRR , YOU COULD REMOVE THE NEGATIVE FROM THE BATTERY FOR 10 MINUTES THEN PUT IT BACK ON AND YOU SHOULD BE BACK IN BUSINESS . GOOD LUCK.

yes and no disconnect the battery both sides, now without touching the battery touch black to red wires, this resets any codes. if the light comes back on you will need a pcm scan to get any error codes from it.
