I am trying to change output speed on 2001 740il. I have the pan down but cannt find the sensor. I think its towards the rear of the trans. but the part I have dont resemble anything in the trans. May be I have wrong part. Any help be appreciated
Hello ryk786, i/m not a hundred percent certain, but I think the output speed sensor is located at the back of the transmission. With the pan removed, if you look at the valve body and see the EDS valves and connectors, look about 2 inches back toward the end of the case and you should see a connector by itself. There should be a retaining torx bolt and spring holding the sensor in place. After installing the new sensor, do not over-tightend the bolt. The torque should be around 5-6 Nm.
