No power unless key is in ignition.

I have a 2004 Endeavor and I installed an FM modulator by myself and something went wrong. I have no power to the car unless the key is in the ignition. So I can't use the keyless entry remote, and the back hatch does not open. Also the clock, radio, and trip meter all reset every time I turn the car off. I uninstalled the FM modulator and it has not gone back to normal. Please help!

Take it to a store that installs remote starters and stereo amps.

SOURCE: hatch-back door will not open

I can say I have had the same problem, only the back doors and the rear hatch/glass won't open using keyless remote from them freezing this Winter.  The front two driver/passenger doors will unlock with keyless remote but none of the rear doors, hatch or glass.  Since I had to replace the stoplight bulbs in the rear with one not working and I don't need a ticket on Memorial Day weekend (need to replace 2 at the same time is wise according to any good mechanic), I had to get the rear hatch open to get to the lamp assembly and replace the bulbs.  My thinking was that since my two front locks were opening but no others and my keyless remotes are working, it has to be a fuse or relay that is not working!  So, I talked with a NAPA rep and he said the "Day running lights" relay can be a temporary fix to get the rear locks open to replace the bulbs.  I looked up in the owners manual where both relay's are located and removed the "Locked" relay and "Day running lights" relay and put the "Day running lights" into the same slot where the "Locked" relay was not operating and it worked!  I got the doors unlocked and replaced my stoplight bubs replaced.  Now, I have a new problem, my Tahoe won't start!!  I'm assuming the relay wasn't supposed to stay in the wrong slot when operating the vehicle because I started the truck, and it started and died-started and died-same and again.  I think the wrong fuse can be used to fix another problem like a fuse.  But, a fuse you can leave in and deal with one operation in the vehicle not working until you can replace the fuse later when you purchase it.  But, not a relay!  Now, I think the confused electronics cause another component (possibly the fuel pump relay) to burn out with the wrong relay in place of another when the vehicle operates.  I should have known but I was so glad to get the doors open after two months and it being Memorial Day weekend.  Now I have to find out what else is wrong so don't make that mistake to avoid the same predicament.  Better to get the relay ordered and replaced than to have this happen to you.

SOURCE: Power door locks do not work with keyless remote control

There are two multiplex control units - one on the driver side and one onthe passenger side - which one did you unplug? The one on the driver side is the main "Brain" while the other one is the one that houses the keyless reciever. According to the service manual, any troubleshooting of this system must begin with the one on the driver side. It can get quite involved because Honda does not provide actual troubleshooting (symptom) charts, just descriptions of the electrical connectors and what conditions should be present at each conector pin under what system condition. (each pin has to be tested to determine what is malfunctioning) The system is not capable of outputting fault codes of any kind.

Mitsubishi endeavor 2004 coil pack burnt out changed and turns over but no start spark plugs wet from fuel but not starting

There are so many possibilities, fuse, command module, crank signal? Is the module getting 12 volts. It is rarely a whole ignition coil pack goes out unless of a short. Was the unit burned up? If not, it could have a bad crank position signal. The cam sensor is mainly for fuel and crank sensor is mainly for spark.

I had a locked car light come on in my 2006 chevy malibu, it no longer will drive. doesnt turn off, goes in reverse but when in drive, just revs like the car is in neutral, why?

The lock an car symbol is for the anti-theft system ! By not turning off, do you mean you can't turn the key to the off position or you can turn the key to off but the car won't shut off ?
It sounds like you have a Power Mode Mismatch
The ignition switch is an input to the BCM - body control module an if something happens to the system , the BCM will keep the vehicle in the last known mode Since the operation of the vehicle systems depends on the power mode, there is a fail-safe plan in place should the power mode master (PMM) fail to send a power mode message. The fail-safe plan covers those modules, using exclusively serial data control of power mode, as well as those modules with discrete ignition signal inputs.
You could have an ignition switch problem or something wrong with the BCM .
Discrete Ignition Signals Those modules that have discrete ignition signal inputs, also remain in the state dictated by the last valid PMM message received on the serial data circuits. They then check the state of their discrete ignition input to determine the current valid state. If the discrete ignition input is active, battery positive voltage, the modules will fail-safe to the RUN power mode. If the discrete ignition input is not active, open or 0 volts, the modules will fail-safe to OFF-AWAKE. In this state, the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle.
This is one you need to take to the dealer because they have a factory scan tool !

Stereo won't change channels or work

Had the same problem. Just replaced it. Internal electrical problem. Cheaper to install a new after market one, than to have it diagnosed by the dealer and pay top dollar for one

Can't get key out of igntion on my 2004 endeavor

Assuming there's no button to press when taking the key out, try rocking the steering wheel to left and right at the same time as trying to remove the key. Sometimes the ignition lock engages at the same time as the steering lock.

I have a 2004 Endeavor and the a/c will stay on when the key isn't even in the ignition. I cannot get it to turn off and it runs the battery down. Any suggestions that I can try myself before having to...

This makes a little more sense. It appears the ignition swith is sticking. The true switch is on the steering column at its ba mounted on top. Ck for binding or sticking. A rod from the key actyates the switch. There is no elel
ctrics at the key location. Good luck

Sounds like a possible BCM body controll module has shorted out partially. I think these are only at dealerships.
