Jeep Scan do not say anything Wrong! My Engine light is steel on not go off Need Help THX all

Unless you own a scan tool that will allow you to read codes. there isn't much you will be able to learn. The engine light, ABS light and AirBag light could be related. Did they come on at the same exact time? Have you noticed anything unusual? Is the car braking or running any differently than usual? Without a scan tool it is hard to know if the issue is causing a chain reaction or not. You may need to bring your vehicle in for diagnostics. I just recently worked on a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The Engine, Traction Control, Electrical Warning lights were on. There were a total of five codes. I diagnosed it to have a faulty Throttle body. I didn't know it at first but later after I knew what went wrong. I learned how this one component had adversely affected the engine, transmission and brake controls. well first without knowing the code no one can diag the possibilities could be anything! but if it came on , the computer saw something

I think I can help here. This is the check engine light and in order to find out what is wrong you will need to get a hold of a scan tool. Theses typically look like this:


That tool hook ups to a small connector just under the dash in the drivers area. Follow the on screen directions to retreive/read trouble codes. Write down what all the codes are and get back to me and I can tell you what to fix to get that light off. You can also clear the codes with that tool but if you dont fix what is wrong then the light will some back on.

That means that your computer has detected a problem with the vehicle. Take the car to Autozone and they will scan it. It doesn't cost anything. If your light is on, take it to Autozone. They will scan it and tell you what is wrong. It is free. This will let you know what to check. It could be a few things, but with a code, you will know for sure. I don;t want you to waste your your money for nothing. Autozone will tell you what the code is. Changing your oil has nothing to do with the engine light, if your check engine light is on then theres a problem, the computer stores codes when it sees a problem with the engine not operating correctly, you may not notice anything strange but something is wrong, the codes help in finding the problem, for example the code is po236 coolant sensor circuit. this would mean theres a problem with the circuit for that sensor and with some testing the problem can be repaired, you can go to a autopart store and they will scan the codes and give you a readout of the codes if you give me the code or codes i will be able to help you more, the engine light is reset with a scan tool or leaving the battery unhookedfor about 10 min,, the engine light will come back on when the computer sees the problem during its constant testing of all systems. hope this is helpful.

This light could be on for many reasons, this light comes on when the computer sees the engine is not running right or sensor reading is out of specs, you will need to have the computer scanned for codes, these codes will tell you in which system the problem is in, sometimes it can tell you very close to what the problem is, a loose gas cap can make this light light up or a faulty sensor or bad sparkplug and on and on, so start with the scan, autozone the auto parts store and others will scan the computer and give you a print out of the codes, for example a po301 code, if you get the codes i can help you find the problem, hope this helps.

have a code scan done (most larger parts outlets do that free) likely you have a bad O2 sensor but without testing, it really could be just about anything.

You have to hook the computer up to a scan tool, the codes will tell you what's wrong.
