Problems with bosal towbar wiring kit....

I have fitted a Bosal tow bar and dedicated wiring loom to my C-Max however I am having problems getting the indicators (for the trailer) to work. There seems to be power going from the indicator wiring into Bosal module but nothing coming out or getting down to the 7-pin plug. The tail and brake lights are all working by the way. I suspect the problem could be something to do with the Orange wire on the Bosal loom which I have not used. The wire comes out of the module multiplug and splits into two spade connectors but I don't know what it is for or where it should go? The instructions show it being joined to wires from the cars own loom by cutting a plug off the end and connecting the wires to the Orange ones. The problem is I can't find this plug,it's not on the main cars loom where the pictures in the instructions suggest. Also the instructions are just pictorial and have no text at all which isn't very helpfull! Has anyone got any ideas please? Many thanks,Steve.

Bosal kits
claim to be plug and play to your vehicle
no wires meant to be cut
the wiring instructions might be generic and not truly specific to your C-Max
save time
wire in indicators old school
pick up the left and right indicator wires at the back of the car
make sure there is a good earth on the 7 pin plug

SOURCE: Tow bar trailer socket wiring connection point to car wiring?

The connectors for towing wire harnesses on foresters are generally on the passenger side, below the rear taillight inside the cargo space. some require pulling up the foam block that is between the spare tire compartment and the taillight. Check where you replace the tailights from inside the car, if there isn't a matching connector hanging out there, check around the spare tire compartment, see if you can remove the carpeted foam block next to the compartment and find the plug under there.

SOURCE: Need to solve towbar wiring fault for trailer

This sounds a bit crazy, but you do not have a good solid ground to your trailer brake lights. You may have to run a separate ground wire from the trailer to the car. Pull your trailer close to the front of your car, close to the battery. Use some wire to connect your trailer to the battery. Then touch each contact one at the time until you learn which port turns on which light(s). Using the wires, only one in the ground connector and the other in the brake connector. gain access to one or both sides of the trailer lights, use another wire and touch the base of the bulbs to the metal of the trailer if the light gets brighter you need to run another ground wire. Hope this helps FixYa up.

Will a 2300kg hayman reece towbar from an au ute fit an au sedan, thanks

should do as the sub frame is the same
check with a tow bar fitting shop and remember you will need a modification plate attached when the tow bar is fitted
If you cannot be bothered with the mod plate then in the event of an accident your insurance is wiped and you could be charger under state laws
have the tow bar shop fit the unit , get the plate attached and get the wiring loom for the plug from them as well

Fitting instructions for a bosal mondeo mk 3 saloon towbar

owing to new legislation introduced by the EEC this work can only be done by a authorised garage and the correct paperwork and certificates presented with the vehicle for a mechanical inspection of the whole vehicle at the local test centre .even if the said vehicle already has a current test certificate then tow bar conformity number is added to the vehicles paperwork .

Towbar question

you have to buy a towbar for your model car . as the mounting hole will be there, if you try and fit any towbar and drill holes it will affect the structure of the car the wiring for the tow bar is universal and if you get a wiring kit it will tell you how to wire it in,

Jaguar 2005 X-type estate towbar electric connector.

The Jaguar doesn't have a towbar connector as such, there is a dedicated towbar wiring kit available, this plugs into the lamp connectors and has a towing module incorporated into the kit.It also has a small connector that plugs in to a spare connector in the loom for cutting off the parking sensors when you plug in your trailer. If you are in the UK then check on the NTTA website for a towvbar supplier that can either send one out or is local to you.

Wiring towbar electrics for nissan navara d40

The best, and in fact the only recommended solution is to use a plug-in dedicated wiring kit for this car, it plugs into a grey connector on the chassis on the rear of the left hand side. this is the connector that the cars rear light loom is plugged into and the towbar loom piggybacks onto this using the same watertight sealed connectors. There is a trailer indicator warning light already built into the dash display so no need for any other monitoring of the trailer functions. This wiring kit should cost you around £40-£50 and will only take around 10mins to fit. The other alternative is to solder the towbar wires to the cars loom, but this is time consuming and may invalidate the vehicles warranty.

Wiring in a tow bar

First I'm sure that a Festiva should probably only be towing body weight, But if you want to hook up a wiring loom for towing I would suggest buying a 4 lug loom from a auto store, then I would get a chilton or haynes manual to get the wiring diagram (or internet) then wire it up with **** connectors and electrical tape.
