hi, check the connections at the ecm,i think it's under pass front seat,i've had a couple of those years loose injector signal at ecm connector,if you have a test light you can unplug injectors and test across terminals ,it's a 12v signal at inj ,if lights flash on both while cranking try plugging in one at a time and see if either sprays, if one does and not the other, you would have a shorted injector

If it only happens at a certain point in the throttle travel, it may be a bad TPS. You would need a computer to confirm loss of signal, but that is what it sounds like.

Sounds like a rocker arm may have come loose. An exhaust valve is not opening for some reason. You can remove the valve covers and watch the rockers. One is likely to be just laying in there (hopefully), or the cam lobe may be wiped out.

Go back to basics and do a complete fuel system and compression test, if it hasn't had a full tune-up in a while you may consider that also.

CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS AT THROTTLE BODY GASKET,REPLACE FUEL FILTER FIRST THEN CHECK FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 9 - 13 PSI. LEAN FUEL MIXTURE WILL MAKE VECHICLE BACK FIRE,IGNITION TIMING OFF, OR BAD STICKING VALVES,FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR CAUSE ENGINE BOG DOWN BACK FIRE.

1998 honda civic. car wouldn't start. thinking need gas. get gas. prime throttle body (maybe a little too much accidently) however, waited a day.(battery was dying from all the attempted starting. put an...

The only matter there should be in the throttle body is air. The throttle body in no way has anything other than "nothing" in it. The liquid you see could be the gasoline you threw into the throttle body.

Getting back to your problem. Do NOT have someone looking down the throttle body while you are trying to start the engine. That person may receive a haircut he will never forget! Get the battery charged. Try to start the engine because even though you think you put too much gas in the throttle body, it may start.

The tricky part. If the engine starts and runs for a few seconds, then you are having a problem with fuel delivery and that is the fuel pump most of the time but not always.. If it does not start at all, try one more time to pour gasoline into the throttle body, hold your foot about 1/2 way down on the pedal and then try again to start it. If it still doesn't start, it's time to check for spark.

1987 chevy with Throttle Body... You literally have to put it to the floor to get it to start, then it'll run nice for a while thinking it'll run take it for a drive and it will shortly die on

Check all fuel lines for leaks, make sure it doesn't have bad gas in it. Listen for fuel pump when key is turned on. Change fuel filter. See if that's helps.

1987 vanden plas won't start

The fuel has to be under pressure in the fuel rail. Quick check for the pressure: pinch off the fuel return line and get an assistant to crank the engine. If it starts....it needs a new check valve in the rail. Fuel is just circulating in a loop from the tank. No pressure being generated to enable fuel injectors to "fire".
If FP ok, then check the neutral sw in the trans selector hsng. if not operated when selector is in P or N engine will not start.

Check air flap in the throttle valve body is not stuck in open position. and is free to operate. The idle bleed /cold start valve needs the air flap to be operational.

Check connecting bellows between throttle body and inlet m'fold to ensure no air leaks. If leaking it will by-pass the control in the throttle body.

Not aware of your skills so for me to start getting into the other possibles would be a bit premature.

1987 k-5 blazer cranks and starts but won't stay running

Sounds like a large vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator failure, idle air control valve stuck open, plugged fuel filter. Also check for good consistent blue spark at spark plugs or jumped timing chain.Hope this helps!

Truck wont start

Just a suggestion but you may want to try putting a bottle of dry gas or octane booster . You may bad gas or possibly water.

Lost pressure in gas peddle

Hmmm well to start the pressure in you gas pedal comes from your throttle body, not your spark plugs. Secondly, there is only one cable going to your gas pedal, the other one is your cruise control cable.

Repair your throttle cable, or the spring on your throttle body is broken. it should be a fairly easy thing to fix.
