hi, check the connections at the ecm,i think it's under pass front seat,i've had a couple of those years loose injector signal at ecm connector,if you have a test light you can unplug injectors and test across terminals ,it's a 12v signal at inj ,if lights flash on both while cranking try plugging in one at a time and see if either sprays, if one does and not the other, you would have a shorted injector

If it only happens at a certain point in the throttle travel, it may be a bad TPS. You would need a computer to confirm loss of signal, but that is what it sounds like.

Sounds like a rocker arm may have come loose. An exhaust valve is not opening for some reason. You can remove the valve covers and watch the rockers. One is likely to be just laying in there (hopefully), or the cam lobe may be wiped out.

Go back to basics and do a complete fuel system and compression test, if it hasn't had a full tune-up in a while you may consider that also.

CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS AT THROTTLE BODY GASKET,REPLACE FUEL FILTER FIRST THEN CHECK FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 9 - 13 PSI. LEAN FUEL MIXTURE WILL MAKE VECHICLE BACK FIRE,IGNITION TIMING OFF, OR BAD STICKING VALVES,FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR CAUSE ENGINE BOG DOWN BACK FIRE.
