SOURCE: how do i replace a broken hood latch cable 2002 toyota camry

its more fiddly than hard before you start look st the cable where it joins the latch and start following it back toward the lever you may have to lift some floor mats etc and the cable should be secured with clips along the way if you think you can get it out take it with you when you go to buy the new 1 and make sure they are the same. if this helps please rate joe

SOURCE: hood release cable is broken

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.

SOURCE: how to relace clutch cable on 1995 saab se 900 turboon saab 900se

1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the clutch cable end from the clutch arm end at the wire stop.
3. Slide out the rubber doughnut from the gearbox housing which holds the clutch cable
4. Move the distribution box nut and the alarm pin attached to it (some modules)
5. Disconnect the clutch cable holder from the fender and the data link holder.
6. Remove the drivers lower panel below the steering wheel and remove the air duct as well as the knee shield.
7. Slide out the fuse box holder and ICE Box (should be a black box with many wires going to it). You can remove the instrument cluster at this point but you can also do this without removing the cluster with a little patience
8. Move the pedal spring to one side and remove the eye catch for the cable.
9. Remove the clutch cable by pulling it out from the engine compartment
10. Reinstall in the reverse. Saab actually came out with a bulletin which Needed one to install two washers at the back of the new cable instead of one. The factory cable comes with one but you can remove the 2nd washer off the old cable and install it on the new cable so two exist. This helps take up excessive pedal slack.

SOURCE: 1997 Plymouth Voyager broken hood latch cable

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

My 1998 Intrepid has a broken hood latch. When I pull on the inside latch, nothing happens. How can I open my hood, and fix this problem for the future ?

can you grab a piece of the cable from under dash?if so pull it and see if it will open.
if not you will have to try to get at latch from under car.
if you cant get at it find a reasonably priced body shop they are pros at getting stuff like that open
then get a new cable or pull handle or latch whichever it needs and replace it

When I attempt to lower the top on my 1997 900 SE SAAB, the computer indicateds ''check latches''. The latches are not latched.

Make sure the top is not lying on the header panel, or it may be holding one of the latch switches closed even though you unlatched it. Hold it up with one hand and retry it.
