SOURCE: 1988 xj6 transmission front pump seal

The two seals should be fairly cheap. the seal itself shouldnt cost more than 5-10 dollars for each one. its a little round ring looking piece of metal with a rubber lining. to fix the front pump seal you'll have to drop the whole transmission and remove the torque converter which (will slide off without complications). the seal will be right behind the torque converter attached to the transmission... it should just pop out and the new one should just pop in. Fro the rear seal all you have to do is take out the drive shaft from the transmission and the seal will be on the end of the transmission.. it should also pop out and the new one should pop right in also. However, if the transmission was drivin with little or no tranny fluid and would not go into gear ..( meaning it would just go into high rpms and not move) your gears are probably shot. If it hasnt been drivin an easier way to tell if this may be the case is to look at the tranny fluid and see how dark it is. if it looks like motor oil instead of transmission oil its probably burnt up... if thats the case it will also smell burnt.

SOURCE: how to test fuel pressure

I have been working on a simular problem on my daughter's vehicle. with the following additional symptoms. It only fails while hot. Runing fuel preassure checks, I noticed that the preassure rises from 30 psi while running to 40 psi after turning off the hot engine. This is caused by the expansion of the fuel in the rail. I believe that this hgh preassure is causing the regulator to stick closed preventing the fuel to get to the rail during a restart, (as the preassure drops to 0 while the fuel pump does whirrrr during the startup proceedure). It seems to free up after it has cooled then works normally. We ordered a new regulator but haven't received it yet to see if this fixes the problem. There is a possibility that the problem is a weak pump that cannot overcome the stuck regulator but since all the checks are in spec, I'm leaning toward the regulator at the moment.

SOURCE: I have changed the fuel pump on my 1997 chevy

You may have a problem with the wireing harnest to the fuel pump There is a service boletin #25215705 released in march 07 The wiring is not resistance wire and tends to over heat When i did mind i bought a deiphi fuel pump and this kit came with the pump i had to cut the wiring back about a foot when i looked at the old wires they looked like they had over heated and were corroided You probably arn;t thrilled to hear this because i know how much fun it is dropping that tank but if you got it down a few inches i think you cuuld get your hand up there and unplug that connector to check it i hope this helps

I need to ask a few questions and please do not think I am insulting you.
How much gas is in tank?
Is the gas good gas and not with water in it? Can you take any gas from the hose into a clear container and wait a minute and see if separation occurs?
Can you see gas squirt into carburetor when you pull on the accelerator cable or push the lever in on the carb? If you can see it..it is going into the intake and .most likely bad gas.
Lastly and another problem area is the fuel jet inside the carb is stuck or has an obstruction such as goo from bad gas?
This gives you some ideas on what to look for and thanks for using FixYa.

85 jeep cherokee 2.5l runs fine on level ground but the carb floods when I'm going up hills? Any solutions? Its been tuned up new plugs and wires and everything but why is it flooding?

Your carb is needing to be rebuilt the seals and float and valve seat may be damage. The float opens when the fuel level in the carb is low. If the valve seat is damaged or the float is not working. Gas can keep pouring into the carb resulting in extra fuel. Till the engine stops and fuel pump pressure stops pushing fuel it will keep pouring fuel and will not stop till rebuilt correcting the problems. Buy rebuild kit and rebuild it or try junkyard and replace it.

91 buick regal. fuel coming out of throttle body when turning over the motor

Has throttle body been rebuilt? What about the gaskets/seals? are they new, (incl base gasket)? Also check throttle valve shaft for leakage between throttle body and shaft.

I have a 77 chevy truck. 350 motor, Freshly rebuilt Holley Spread Bore. Replaced mechanical fuel pump and still no fuel past the pump. The lines from pump to carb do build pressure after attempting to...

Dump a tiny bit of gas, just a splash, into the front barrels of the Holley and crank the engine. It will start and die. do it again until the fuel is up and it keeps running. If it don't keep running, your either out of gas in the tank or you have blockage in the fuel line from tank. That's all it could possibly be. Period. Fuel pump is making pressure and pulling, it WILL work.

Sounds like the fuel pump is going bad(or in this case, has gone bad). I suggest that you change the fuel pump and use a fuel cleaner in your gas tank as dirty gas may have caused the problem to begin with.

Not getting fuel to carb.already changed fuel pump and fuel pump relay will start by pouring gas in carb

If the car starts when you pour gas into the carb. The fuel pump is defective. Or the fuel filter is stopped up.

99 tahoe, changed fuel filter, and poured some gas in the throttle body and it will start.

i am assuming that this vehicle will not start without the gas poured into the throttle body? If so then there is a fuel dilevery problem which can be coming from injectors that are not firing due to clogged injectors or a malfunctioning injection pulse. or clogged fuel delivery system which is most probaly not the case due to you changing the fuel filter, or a bad fuel pump. you have some testing ahead of you.
