I believe the trunk or luggage compartment light switch on my 2000 Jaguar VDP is broken. I've replaced the bulbs even though the old ones do not appear to have been burned out. No fuses appear to have blown. That pretty much leaves the switch but I cannot seem to locate it. Can you help?

It looks like the "luggage compartment lid release" fuse (15A) is in the number 1 position within the luggage fuse box which is located forward of the battery

There should be a switch at the edge of the trunk lip or on the trunk hinge.

The SJB supplies power to the interior lighting system. The SJB will set DTCs if certain circuit failures exist with the interior lighting system.

Check fuse # 3 SJB

You can take out the back seat, there is suppose to be a opening are an empty space try from there.

Removing:

• Switch off all electrical consumers, switch off ignition key and remove ignition key.
• Remove rear luggage compartment side panel trim (left or right).

• Remove 3 nuts, arrows, and remove housing.
• Remove bulb holder.

Installing:

• Install bulb holder.
• Insert housing into body opening.
• Tighten nuts.
• Install applicable rear luggage compartment side panel trim.

Rear Light Bulb Holder Removing And Installing:
Removing:

• Disconnect electrical connector.
• Depress retainers, arrows, and remove bulb holder.

Installing:

• Install in reverse order of removal.

And the Center Mounted Brake Lamp.
High mount Brake Light Removing And Installing:
The high mount brake light is installed in the rear shelf.
Removing:

• Switch off all electrical consumers, switch off ignition key and remove ignition key.
• Disconnect electrical connector from high mount brake light.
• Remove rear shelf
• Un-clip high-mount brake light from rear shelf, arrows.
• Install in reverse order of removal.

NOTE: The bulb holder base plate contains soldered- in light emitting diodes (LEDs) that are not replaceable. In the event of LED malfunction, replace complete bulb holder.
Additional

Remove the luggage compartment rear trim panel. Detach luggage compartment side trim panel. Detach the rear lamp assembly bulb holder. Remove the rear lamp assembly. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

There should be a little jaguar insignia in the middle of the trunk lid . If the doors are unlocked just push it in it is a push button latch.

Should be in the trunk fuse box, more more likely its the harness that feeds the lights, when the trunk is open you need to check and make sure there is power to the lights.

This is very common, because your battery is dead your remote isnt going to work. So what you have to do is look by the license plate light bulbs, their is a key hole wear you can insert you key and open the trunk to charge/ or jump start your battery

the battery has gone dead you can not open the boot/trunk with the electrical system but you should be able to get to the battery by using the key in the lock on the outside of the the trunk its either in the xj badge or the number plate illumination holder. if you can open the engine compartment there is battery pos power points so you can jumpstart/power up the car
