Navagation System INOP on my 2003 Jaquar S Type

I have the updated map disc and everything seems to have power.I have nothing on screen nor does the controls around screen work. Where the temp for climate control flashes 50 then 51 where the outside temp is displayed directly below screen. If the car sets for 48 hours without starting the brand new battery needs jumped. We have checked battery for voltage and it is OK. I'm thinking their may be a draw from the inop nav system. This car has 80000 miles and is like new inside and out. Cars drives out GREAT! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The outside temp 50-51 is caused by a faulty external temp. sensor. found at the RHS in front/below by radiator under spoiler. it looks like a small plastic sparkplug, cost from dealers about £5-00. This will affect your climate control and not allow it to function correctly.
If your touch screen was working correctly before the update it might be worth trying your old DVD back in the unit for a reboot.
Als0 check in your handbook that your ancillary fuse for these items is okay. If after this you still have no display or action on your screen - it sounds bad news and it might be new screen time, but get it checked first at a good auto electricians .... because Jag main dealers only put in new new new ..... they are not interested in finding problems. Good Luck !

How do i use navagation on my 2013 escape

You can probably find a Manual online for that feature. What you will have after choosing Navigation versus Entertainment is 2 tabs in the upper right of the screen. One is Dest (destination) and the other Menu. The Dest will get you a screen which allows you to enter your City or State, then City. Everything is then presented by street, address number and so forth. Some screens allow for Zip code instead of typing the City.

The Menu tab allows setting choices on what type of roads you travel. You can also select notifications of Hazards, avoiding Toll roads or Ferries. You can set volume and even voice types.

Have you calibrated the nav system - this action should be available in the nav menu. you need to move your position marker to where you actually are on the indicated map screen otherwise you could get instructions to turn left etc at wildly different points.

Nav system

Installing the DVD Map Disc Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
Read the following steps completely.
  1. Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
  2. Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
  3. Press the NAV hard key.
  4. Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
  5. Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  6. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
  7. Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
  1. Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
  2. Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
  3. Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
  4. Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  5. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.

Navagation system

Take the disc out then have the car turned off for a half a hour.  Put disc back in and let it boot.
