JUST RELEASE THE PRESSURE AT THE FUEL PRESSURE TEST PORT ON THE FUEL SUPPLY RAIL THAT SUPPLIES THE INJECTORS, IT IS A METAL VALVE LIKE A TIRE VALVE, THAT IS THE FACTORY RECOMMENDED METHOD..

If you want to just release the pressure, loosen the gas cap, if you want to purge out the fuel, pull the fuse for the pump, same difference.

How do I check the fuel pressure on a 2000 model mazda millenia with a 2.3 engine in it

Hi.

You connect a fuel pressure gauge like this to the pressure rail. Pressure in this car must be between 35 and 45 psi. If pressure is too low look for kinked fuel lines and eventually replace the pump. If the pressure drops down more than 10 psi in five minutes or if the pressure is considerably higher than that replace the fuel pressure regulator. Below the parts that may need testing:

2. Shut-off valve
3. Non-return valve
4. Fuel pump
5. Fuel pump (Transfer)
6. Fuel filter (High-pressure)
7. Injector
8. Pressure regulator
9. PRC solenoid valve
10. Fuel pump relay
11. Fuel pump resistor and relay (KJ model)

I want to know how to change the fuel filter on a mazda millenia

Fuel filter is located in the trunk.

1. Relieve fuel pressure
First start up the car in PARK. Open up the hood and pull the Fuel Pump Relay. It looks like a big green fuse. Do this as the car runs. Do not worry the car will stale. Crank engine a few times and turn off ignition switch. Put the relay back in. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Reach filter.
This is annoying unless you can fit comfortably in the trunk. Pull out the carpet cover and you will see a metal cover screwed down by 3 screws. Remove these and you will see the fuel filter.

3. Replace
Lay down some shop towels underneith the hoses connected at both ends of the filter as fuel will spill out. What I did was place forceps on each hose to minimize spillage. This is also why we releive fuel pressure so it doesn;t spray in your face. Hoses may be stuck onto filter so I took a very small flathead screwdriver and wedge it between the the hose and the filter nozzels so it will free itself from the filter. Becarful as the fuel filter is filled with fuel. Replace filter and follow your steps back.
