I drive a 1997 ford escort LX wagon and it makes an extremely weird noise underneath the car during rain or snow..., it sounds like a clunking or gurgling and is affected each time I touch the gas pedal. I had the exhaust replaced from the cat back very recently and even had a mechanic check it out, it's not the exhaust but it definitely comes from underneath the front of the car, both ball joints were replaced and both front struts so I know it's not them, anybody have the same problem? please help. Thank you.

very common problem is the sway bay end links that attach to the strut from the sway bar. They sound like a light chuckling knock over bumps. The bushings that hold the subframe up wear or the bolts loosed due to the bushings wearing. usually the rear ones The bushings are 2 piece ,upper and lower Tighten with 18mm socket
