The monitors were reset due to the battery being disconnected on my 01 Aztec, and I have been driving it for a week.(approx. 700 miles). There are three monitors that won't reset:
catalyst not ready
Evaporative system not ready
Secondary Air System not ready
Is there a drive cycle specific to the Aztec?
I have tried a couple of generic drive cycles several different times that were recommended by a local mechanic. I called the dealership, and they have nothing to offer.
I can only have one monitor down and still pass New York State's inspection, and I'm running out of time on the temporary inspection.
Thanks
If there is really no problem with all these things they should be able to clear out the lights when they go to do the inspection.
Found this hope it helps it was the only drive cycle I was able to find for pontiac. Hope it works!
There is no drive trace as a whole, however, some monitor cycles are similar and may pass through simultaneously
Catalyst moniotor:
Pre-req: no codes present, IAT between -4 and 176 deg f; ECT is avove
75 deg f; barometric pressure above 72kPa, STFT between -20% and 20 %
-Idle vehicle 5 minutes until it is in closed loop
-drive 5 min at steady speed above 50 mph
-idle 2 min in drive (auto) or neutral (manual)
*very stable idle is required to pass this monitor
EGR Monitor:
Pre-req: no codes present, ECT is avove 75 deg f; barometric pressure above 72kPa
1. Idle vehicle 5 minutes until it is in closed loop
2. Accelerate and drive for 1 min at steady speed above 50 mph
3. coast vehicle down to 20 mph (vehicle in drive or w/ clutch engaged, brake off)
4. repeat steps 2 and 3 four times
* the GM egr runs during the deceleration portion of the drive trace
Evaporative Monitor:
Pre-req: no codes present, IAT & ECT between 45 and 85 deg
f: barometric pressure above 75 kPa, fuel tank level between 26 and 74
%; TPS between 9& 35 %; evap solenoid is at 50% pwm within 65 sec
of engine run time
-Idle vehicle 5 minutes until it is in closed loop
-drive 5 min at steady speed between 30 and 40 mph
-stop and idle 2 min
O2 Sensor Monitor:
Pre-req: no codes present, IAT above 32 deg f; ECT is avove 167 deg f
-Idle vehicle 5 minutes until it is in closed loop
-drive 3 min at steady speed above 50 mph
-drive 2 min at steady 40 mph
-drive 2 min at steady 50 mph

There are not any lights on. There are no codes present.
The problem is that I can not get the main computer to reset itself so that it can give out a report. Without a report, I can't pass the smog test.
When the battery was disconnected, all the data in the main computer was cleared, so now, certain parameters have to be met before the computer has enough data to generate a report.
What I need to know is, what do I need to do to meet those parameters? Is there a drive cycle specific to the Aztec?
I have tried the generic drive cycle several times and it dos not work. The generic drive cycle goes like this:
Start the engine. Idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defroster on.
Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle.
Hold at a steady speed of 55 mph for three minutes.
Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch.
Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at ¾ throttle.
Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes.
Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking.
Thanks, everything reset!
My catalytic converter, evaporated system are saying not ready on the inspection
