How can I adjust my 1996 Peugeot 405 clutch cable

Many articles on your web site (with respect to Peugeot 405 Clutch System) made reference to Chapter 6 of a 'User Guide' which I presumed is 'Haynes Service & Repair Manual for Peugeot 405'. Unfortunately, the manual does not have Chapters 6, 7, and 8.

Chapter 5B stopped on page 157, and Chapter 9 commenceded on the next page (page 158).

Please send pdf copies of those missing chapters to my e-mail address given below.

Thanks a million.

My 405 had a self adjusting clutch but the BX box fits and they were adjustable, take out the airfilter and pipes, grab the end of cable and pull hard, if it releases then it is a working self adjuster, if not look for the adjuster nut, some are fitter on a bell-crank near the starter (13mm) others are 10mm nuts on the end of the inner cable.

206 w reg fitted new clutch but now have no biting point so car will not pull away help

Hello, Who installed the clutch"? Were there a new pressure plate installed? Were there a new throw out bearing installed. Does this 1991 Peugeot 405 have hydraulic or mechanical clutch linkage?
There a couple of reason why the Peugeot wont move and engine is running and the transmission is in gear.

1.. Pressure plate is installed backwards.--Remove transmission and reinstall pressure plate in the correct orientation to the clutch. There is two ways to install it, but one way correctly.

2. Adjustment for the clutch linkage from the pedal in the driver compartment is adjusted to tight and not releasing the clutch to where the clutch pressure is on the pressure plate.

I hope this helps. GB....stewbison

peugeot and citreon cars do bite high generaly, it is hydaulic there is no adjustment. but it also depends on how high it is ?? does it slip if you slightly rest your foot on whilst driving?? they do have a problem with the bearings going through the cover as it is the same bearing as a HDI . but you woud notice this as a different problem. ie noise or vibration on pedal. call me for more info .. paul @ the clutch centre..01527 64440 07790438337

Clutch slipping

first i would try adjusting the clutch cable because commonly people with think that they're clutch is going out when really just the cable has gotten stretched....try adjusting that first and if that works then you should be fine for another couple thousand miles but if you want to not have to worry bout it for awhile i would just replace teh clutch assembly....usually ranges from $200 to $450 depending on the clutch set and the mechanic that does the work for you. Let me know what happens. :)
