OIL FILTER BLEW OFF OR MUSHROMED OUT

I have a 1999 ford contour svt and I was just starting out I 1st gear. I got on it a bit. I got abought 1,000 yeard's when the oil light came on. I parked the car right away and when I looked under the hood I noticed that oil was porring out of the oil filter. I look a littel closer and it look's like the filter mushroomed out and is sitting side way's. What do you think would have caused this and is it a sereous problem??

If it does it again after you change the oil and filter, I would have the pressure relief valve checked in the oil pump.

Replace the oil filter, fill crankcase with proper amount of oil, drive car away and pray to God it was just a defective oil filter.

How "old" was this oil filter and how long ago was it supposedly replaced? Does the SVT have an oil pressure gauge (I know my non-SVT contour does not) and did you notice anything on the gauge (super-high pressure) before the filter burst?

Unfortunately, the idiot light tells you there is "NO" oil pressure, which is the condition you encountered after the filter went south.

1999 Ford Contour SVT. I need to replace all my catalytic converters on my car.

Do you have a performance problem or an emission problem? Who is telling you your cats are bad and need to be replaced? Of course the average converter lasts about 10 years so yours could be not as effective now as they were new. Any good muffler shop can replace them.

Sorry, I have a 1999 Ford contour Svt i went from 16 stock to aftermarket 17, which made my speedo off, is there any to counter that?

Easiest way is to reduce the profile of the tyres so that you wind up with the same circumference measurement. Otherwise you may be able to get different speedo drive gears in the transmission.

Im trying to find out on my 1998 ford contour svt 2.5 .where is the 02 sensors located.im actually looking for the downstream 02 sensor which i think its the bank 1 sensor 2.i see 2 from underneath

It's in the center, rear engine area, mounted in the exhaust manifold. Kind of a pain to get at, but doable. It's easier if you take the oil filter off.

Hi! I have a ford mondeo automatic 2002 model. It looses power every time it changes gears especially from gear 2 to gear 3. The maximum speed that it does now is 40 km/hr but it starts well. Please help

HI,your ford may have gear problem which is common on ford mondeo, first check the gear oil if its reddish then your oil is ok and if its burnt like brown colour then you should change the gear oil as well the gear oil filter.

My 1998 contour svt has been sitting for two years, trying to start car, it wont..is the gas bad in the tank

If it's been sitting for that long, yes the gas goes bad. Drain the tank, fuel lines and even the spark plugs becuase the old gas will foul them too.
Check air filter for free air flow and possible critters living in the intake... two years is quite a while for a car to sit... Also after it's running have your oil and filter changed as well.
