SOURCE: mass air flow sensor

maf sensors identify the amount of air flow flowing in the intake. the sensor works with the throttle so it knows how much air is coming in to add the proper amount of fuel to mix with the air. Easy to pull and replace.

SOURCE: 000 NISSAN Xterra -- after warming up, loses RPM by 500-1000..... have replaced ignition wires and distributor, checked mass air flow sensor and OK.....

I had a problem on my Nissan Xterra 2000. Symptons sound similar. In my case, it ran fine for a while and then suddenly the engine starts to stumble and lose output. At one point it did not even have enough HP to move. Irregular idling too. Thought it was water in my fuel. Bought water remover from the store and added to gas tank. Problem did not go away. Instead, "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Had to have it towed to the dealer as there was no way the engine could keep up with traffic. Dealer replaced the "Crank Position Sensor" today. Parts $33.00, Labor: $300 (about 3 hrs worth of work). Seems to work fine now but I will wait and see. Dealer also stated that Distributor bearing appears to be noisy and will need to be replaced sooner or later. I will wait for it to go before I fix that.

SOURCE: when to change spark plugs on Nissan 2005 Titan

they come with platnium plated spark plugs that should last 100,000 miles. I chanfge mine at 50,000 no matter what for the plug wire are shot by then. Why do both at the same time? Platnium is a coating which wears away in city driving more than highway I have learned. It is up to you and better fuel milage is always a plus for me

I've got a 1995 Nissan Altima 2.4L Automatic. I can start it up and let it idle for like 5 minutes or drive it maybe 2 miles and it will just die.

This issue could be caused by several different factors, some of which include:
  1. Fuel delivery issue: The engine may not be getting enough fuel, which could be caused by a clogged fuel filter, a faulty fuel pump, or a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator.
  2. Ignition system issue: The engine may not be getting enough spark, which could be caused by a faulty ignition coil, a bad spark plug, or a problem with the distributor.
  3. Engine overheating: If the engine overheats, it may cause the engine to stall and not restart.
  4. Vacuum leak: A vacuum leak in the engine could cause the engine to stall, especially at idle.
  5. Mass air flow sensor: A faulty mass air flow sensor can cause the engine to stall.
You may need to diagnose the issue further with the help of a mechanic or by using a diagnostic tool.

03 Nissan Altima showing codes P0304,P0102,P0154,P0113 what are they and how do i repair the problems.

Hi Chris.

p0304 = Number 4 Cylinder Misfire Detected

Faulty spark plug 4
Clogged or faulty fuel injector 4
Faulty ignition coil 4
Fuel injector 4 harness is open or shorted
Fuel injector 4 circuit poor electrical connection
Ignition coil 4 harness is open or shorted
Ignition coil 4 circuit poor electrical connection
Insufficient cylinder 4 compression
Incorrect fuel pressure
Intake air leak

The P0304 code means that the cylinder 4 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 4.

p0102 = Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input

Faulty mass air flow sensor
Intake air leaks
Dirty mass air flow sensor
Dirty mass air filter
Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection

Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner.
Reset code and drive vehicle.
If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.

p0154 = O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Sensor 1 Bank 2

Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 harness is open or shorted
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection
Inappropriate fuel pressure
Faulty fuel injectors
Intake air leaks may be faulty
Exhaust gas leaks

Replacing the Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 usually takes care of the problem.

p0113 = Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High

Faulty Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
Dirty air filter
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness is open or shorted
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor circuit poor electrical connection

The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is built into mass air flow sensor or in some vehicles mounted to the air filter duct housing. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).The temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. The Intake Air Temperature signal is used as an input for various systems in the vehicle.

Hope this helps

Nissan stays on for a few second then shuts off. all lights in dash are on.

Could be the spark plug wires, the mass air flow sensor, the fuel pump, or the fuel filter. Many things to check. Please be more specific. The car starts and the motor runs for a few seconds? Thank you.
