As a stopgap measure you can put the live wire on and other relay ie lighs or aircon relay. You will just have to activate that device in order to switch on the fuelpump. This will also help you to establish if it is the relay itself. The problem sounds more like a heat issue. Test the pump for an extended period recirculating fuel in a can (run long in and out pipes to the same can so you can stand far away from danger) FAR FROM FIRES!!! AND AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT CAN BURN!!!! Keep track of the heat of the pump.Pinch the pipe to make the pump work hard. BE CRAEFULL!!! fuel under presure can squirt long distances.

Have you changed the fuel pressure regulator on the driver's side fuel rail? How much fuel pressure do you have? Mine runs at about 45 psi.

It is in the tank. You need to drop tank and test voltage of wires going to pump to see if it is in fact the pump. Clean the tank if you replace pump. Look at the pump on Autozone.com

SOURCE: trying to locate fuel pump relay for 1991 corvette- coupe
The fuel pump relay in the 1991 corvette is located under the IP on the pass side.
Open pass door, unscrew two screws under the glovebox (you will be upside down in the car), take off the fuse panel, unscrew third screw to plastic plate underneath glovebox, pull away carpet (velcro), pull down plastic plate (watch out for the wiring to the lamp), then under the glovebox you will find a number of fuses and relays if you dive in under there DEEP, prob 4 or 5 in a row, not really sure wich one, but one in the middle is the fuel relay, and they are the same (interchangable).
Take a look at --the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp--
It´s those relays we are talking about.

If it starts with gas down carb, then pump, pump relay, is faulty, or plugged fuel filter. Or carb floats sticking.

I have checked the pump, it works with a jumper wire. the voltage on the harness is 7 volts..I had no warning to it stopping parked the car stopped the engine then it wouldn't restart! I have ordered a new pump relay but as I am in Australia this will be a few days, any other suggestions would be great.
