It's not likely the plugs. Please get a scan at your local parts store, write down the trouble codes, and post them here.

SOURCE: Misfire on cylinder 1 and 3

Do you observe abnormal idle speed? It may be just an indicator fault; not a really engine firing problem.

SOURCE: 2000 accent keep getting check en light on codes 300, 303

  • Here are the most common causes of a ,misfire.
  • Base engine mechanical faults (valve train faults, excessive carbon buildup, low compression)
  • Air Intake system is restricted, or there is a restriction in the Exhaust system
  • Fuel pressure problems (fuel pressure is either too low or too high)
  • Faulty fuel injectors (leaking, restricted or dirty fuel injectors)
  • Faults in the Ignition system components and wiring
  • Faults in the Ignition system components and wiring
  • Vehicle driven while low on fuel, or it was run completely out of fuel
The light will flash if the PCM detects a misfire that could result in damage to the Catalytic Converter so driving the car with it flashing could cause more problems.

Hope this helps,

Dave

SOURCE: The check engine light would stay on and sometimes

The wires and coil was a just throwing parts at it ,for no reason. Try disconnecting the battery to see if the codes clear. You will need to scan for the code if it comes back and proceed with the proper diagnotics to find the issue with the engine performance.

SOURCE: My 2001 Hyundai is running rough, the check engine

Your check engine light is flashing because the missfire is severe enough to cause damage to your catylitic convertor, the problem may be your coil pack, you can check this by pulling cyl #2 sparkplug wire, put an old plug in the end and groung the threads of the plug, have someone crank or start car and watch for spark, if you have no spark I would try a coil, IF you have spark your problem is either mechanical or fuel/air delivery problem!

SOURCE: i changed my front 3

The spark plugs should be matched up with the old ones to be sure that are the same as the new spark plugs and that the threads are not too long or too short and if the spark plugs were pre-gapped or if they need to be gapped, and the auto part store should have given you that information along with any spark plug gap because some spark plugs you can not set the gap on or they will be damaged. The spark plug gap should also be printed on the emission label out under the hood. Also, the other three spark plugs and wires should be changed to complete the ignition tune-up.

The spark plug gap should be the same amount between all of the spark plugs, and the farther apart that the gap is between the spark plugs the rougher the engine will run and idle, and the closer that you get to the same spark plug gap between the spark plugs the smoother the engine will run and idle.

It is also very important that the spark plugs be connected to the correct terminals on the coil pack or the engine will have a severe mis-fire and it will set a mis-fire DTC (Data Trouble Code) and cause the check engine light to come on.

Here is a firing order diagram to help assist you and let me know if need help with this diagram or if you require any further assistance.

It was running fine and then all of a suddun its running rough, it wont shift over and the engine light is blinking.. its a custom 2001 buik century. we need to fix the car so we can get back and forfth to...

flashing engine light means engine misfire. let car idle and mist the plug wires down with water, rev the engine up and down and look for little sparks jumping from the wires. and arcing wires can cause problems. before changing any bad wires check the coil packs where the wires plug in the three small boxes on the top back of motor. they are three packs with two wires each. one pack at a time take the two wires off to reveal the coil towers. have an assistant start the motor and make sure the spark goes from tower to tower. repeat on remaining two packs. if the spark goes straight down the tower the coil needs replaced. if there is no spark, the coil needs replaced.

Engine light on 99 escort been on awhile but now its blinking and loossing powere in care and more

The blinking light means that the problem is hapenning at that moment and really needs to get fixed or you may damage a component of the engine or emisions system. Most likely the engine is misfiring and you should give the car new Plugs, wires and possible coil if the problem continues after changing plugs and wires.
