1987 Chevy S-10 Tahoe Problems

After running for a while it begins to run REALLY funky, when i come to stops the check engine light blinks and the blazer usually ends up stalling itself out, unless i shift into neutral and press the gas a little. and when i try to go it doesn't want to take any gas and takes forever to get up to speed.
BUT BEFORE THIS
It runs great for an hour or so if I'm holding the gas pedal in the slightest position to keep acceleration but if i let off and try to go again after coasting it doesn't go until it gets in the "honey" spot again, which is usually full throttle or one step under full throttle. and eventually after running for a while is when the check engine light blinks and stalls upon stopping

ALSO

It feels as if four wheel drive kick in or work. The four wheel drive gears go 2Wh, 4Hi, Neutral, 4Lo. when i put my blazer in neutral with my gear shifter and shift my transfer case from 2Wh drive down to 4 Hi its does great but it doesn't feel as if the front tires are grabbing, and when i try to go from neutral to 4Lo it grinds a little if i pull it down. I have slammed it into 4Lo to see if it works and i have gotten in gear, but still it feels as if it either didn't kick in or the front tires aren't grabbing. and when i put my gear shifter into neutral to shift my transfer case outta 4Lo its shifts just fine back up to neutral and even 4Hi or 2Wh. but when i shift my gear shifter into a gear it started making a grinding noise somewhere, so i instantly shut it off and put it into neutral on my gear shifter and kept it in 2Wh. it started and drove away fine. but the gas issues is my majority of problems right now.

Leaks both tranny fluid and oil from the front main seal. but i keep up on the fluids checks and adding regularly. but it became to expensive and now is parked.

Do you think its just a Vacumm line leak?

Vacumm leak i agree! But if you rear main seal is leaking bad? You are losing oil presser! needs to be a sealed unit!Or engine i should say!Plus it could be a thrust baring if the noise gets worse in 4x4 Driving

SOURCE: 1996 suburban makes grinding noise in 2 wheel drive

sounds like the clip on the rear output shaft its probably broke. do this by removing the rear driveshaft, and the tail of the transfer case, there are 4 bolts holding it in place. then grab the output shaft and see if it has any front to back movement. if so pull it all the way to the rear and you should see a groove at the front part of the shaft where the clip goes. Then you should find the pieces fo the clip in the tail housing. One person said he found the replacement clip at a local tranny shop. I am calling the dealership parts counter for a new clip for my 97 Tahoe tomorrow. Hope this helps..

SOURCE: 4HI and 4LO light flashing 2000 Blazer LT

it is very possible that a wheel speed sensor is open or reading erratic, causing the ECM to override the 4WD switch. Borrow/rent/buy a scanner that will tell you this info,

SOURCE: 2004 Blazer won't shift into four wheel drive. I

ok what i would try is put the truck in park then try to **** into your 4wheel drive high or low, other than that with the computer thats on board you may just have a technical issue that can be solved at the dealership

Got a 1997 Chevy Suburban 5.7 liter 4 wheel drive and the check engine light is steadily on. I not too long ago changed the spark plugs and just changed the EGR VALVE. As I drive now it's running rough....

What you do when the engine light comes on is to stop the vehicle ---check the oil level and let it cool down then check the coolant level at the radiator. The engine light is the message to you that the CPU has found sensors /servos that have gone outside set parameters and your course of action then is to prove that the engine is safe then run the fault codes to find the recorded faults and fix them . use the code reader to reset the CPU to ensure that the faults are fixed.

My 2001 tahoe loses acceleration going uphill

the check engine light is on and you still are running it without checking or having the fault codes read
the light is to stop you from driving it before it gets serious
read the codes and hope that you haven't damaged it

My 1987 Toyota Cressida jerks when stopped at lights and accelerates slowly.

sounds like your ignition timing is REALLY REALLY late, should be 10 degrees BTDC. also check the air filter as this could cause poor acceleration. those 5M-GE/7M-GE engines also want premium gas (91 pump octane or better) they run horribly on lower grade gasolines.

Check engine light is on, motor runs rough, sometimes stalls

Go to Advance or Auto Zone and have them run an obd scan on it and it will pin point why your light is on and could solve your problem. This is often done for free.

93 blazer runs better when check engine light's on

Could be a temp sensor or similar too, and believe it or not, the price to have the vehicle scanned for codes, and fuel pressure tested if necessary, usually ends up being cheaper in the long run, rather than play hit & miss, and replace a bunch of parts by guessing.
