I had a head gasket repair job done on my 97 dogde ram a few weeks ago. It was 2500 bucks. They replaced the thermostat , o-ring , 5 different gaskets, sealer and sealant ,coolant and oil and oil filter (listed on my work order). I have driven about 100 kilometers since. My question is ; why would there be a small amount of oil underneath my truck now ?
I have never had leakage of any fluids on my driveway before... should I call the Chrysler repair shop and ask them about it ?
I am upset after all the money I spent.

Thank You for your reply... 2500 is a few bucks ; the parts were only 300 bucks (like you had mentioned). I should have been paying more attention to my Dad when he worked on his race cars...
And , no ; they did not clean after. There hasn't been a single problem since as far as seeing anything under the truck.
Cheers !
did the repair facility clean your engine after the work was performed? it maybe possible that the oil you are seeing now is from the oil leak prior to the repair. its not mandatory for a repair shop to clean up after themselves, but the better shops always do because of concerns like yours. $2500 is alot of cash. some advice to you is to buy a chilton's repair manual and perform repairs yourself. most auto repair can be done with minimal skill and common tools. you will be dollars ahead. example- the work that was done on your truck- parts: master gasket set from fel-pro that includes all engine gaskets $60-75, t'stat $8-10, lube/oil/filter $30 (conventional oil) $50( synthetic) coolant $10-15 labor free. total cost: under $200. gasket replacement is more time consuming than complex. the only real procedure that you must be accurate with is torqing the bolts back down on the engine parts that have gaskets.
