I has the exact Same happen to my 2008 colt cz1 Same 5min whin Everything. This was about 8 month ago now and has never happened again yet. Asking around told Do Not Jet wash engine Bay or get the cpu in the Bay wet as a common fault on These cars is water getting in to cpu which causes difficult Start up and rougth running. If is water damage it may dry out and Run ok or new cpu is expensive. Mitsubishi of corse Know nothing of this fault when it happens even though Most mechanics Know its the First thing to Check for on These cars and the smart for4 which has identical parts and identical problem. Hope this helps you it did me when Mine did the Same thing. Mine dryed over Time and now Starts and runs like new. It is not battery or alternator as any Tester will show. It happens again repost request and i,m Happy to help or Talk you through fix .matty b

SOURCE: starter not work but can bump start nissan sunny "N" reg

Cluth Pedal may not be depressing the cluth safety switch. The switch is directly under cluth pedal when fully depressed. The pedal has a plastic circle piece covering a hole in the pedal for some reason. If this piece breaks off, the switch will not be depressed or only depress some times and not others thus car may start some times and not others. The switch may also be bad. Engine will not turn if this switch is not depressed thus acting as if the starter is bad or some sort of other problem. Make sure the car is in neutral depress the switch with your finger and turn the key or have a friend turn the key. Car should fire right away. Again MAKE SURE THE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR the switch does not engage the clutch.

I have a similar problem. Every 4 weeks or so the car refuses to start. Again battery is not a problem but if we use cables to jump start from another car it starts fine.
Mitubishi cannot find the answer, only suggestion was to spend £150 on a new key , however the problem has now occured with both of the keys !

SOURCE: the engine will not turn

SOUNDS LIKE LOW VOLTAGE. TRY # 4 CABLE JUMPER CABLES LIGHT DUTY CABLES WON'T DO THE JOB. IF IT JUMP STARTS, CHECK THE ALTERNATOR. WITH MOTOR RUNNING, VOLTAGE AT THE BATTERY SHOULD READ BETWEEN 13.90 & 14.80. REMOVE JUMPER CABLES FOR THE VOLTAGE TEST. THE MOTOR MAY HAVE TO RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES FOR A TRUE VOLTAGE READING.

1999 Pontiac Sunfire 5 speed won't start. Replaced spark plugs and checked ignition coil (fine). Sounds like it wants to turn over but makes a "whining" noise. Please assist. Thank you!

Is the engine turning over with the key in the start position? If the engine is not spinning over and you hear a whining noise, the starter is not engaging the flywheel. If the engine is turning over with the starter engaged, the engine has most likely jumped time that creates low or no compression which results in the whining noise.

Hi my c1 has started to make a whining sound (bit like a dog whine) the last couple of days. It tends to get louder and is intermittent, it starts when the engine is fired up (no probs starting engine)...

Have your drive belt replaced (sometimes called the auxiliary or serpentine belt) when it slips it creates a screeching noise and it's also a sign that it's going to fail (snap).
These can run the alternator and power steering so you should change it as a preventative measure.
