Only if you new your key code, their are 15 of them. Check your manual, it may be written in side. Other wise their is no cheap way.

SOURCE: 1988 Corvette Hot Start problem

well there are a few things that can cause this and Im sure you have tried most but I will run down my normal list first fuel vapor lock is still a problem on high performance cars in the 80s try cycling the key 3 or 4 times from off to on pausing briefly between each cycle to push fuel through the lines if that does work check the location of the fuel line on the front of the block of it is touching there is your problem ok if that doesnt work coil saturation meaning the heat is actually causing it not to fire next would be the the distributor first cap and rotor wires breakdown plugs even do not use platinum or iridium plugs in anything that old even if you think its in great shape one speck of oil it wont fire through it then you have the electronic module in the distributor most chain parts stores can test them for you for free hell most are cheap for the older cars good luck and if you need clarification or more help let me know Danny

Nobody can seem to find what prevents my car from running. Does anybody know a good troubleshooter

Eric, that's a fairly broad problem. Does the 'vette run at all? Does it start? Does the engine turn over but won't start? Does ANYTHING happen when you turn the key to "Start". If not, do you have power to lights, horn, wipers, radio, etc? We need a point of reference to start diagnosing this problem.

How to start 2002 jeep without keys

Did you want to do it the cheapest way? or the cleanest way? Is this a repo, or you lost keys? lol. It's not hard, but need to know 1, if it has an alarm , and 2 automatic or standard? If you lost your keys you can bring your registration and ID to the dealer and they can cut you a new one on the spot. Food for thought. let me know

I lost the keys of my ford 2006 while surfing yesterday. I tried to start the ignition by breaking the cylinder and using a flat screwdriver but no luck. It does the starting sound but doesnt start. there...

You cannot start the car without the chip. That's why it's called anti-theft device. The purpose is just that: to prevent anybody to steal the car with a screwdriver.
You have to get a new cylinder and a new key from the authorized dealer. You'll probably need some proof of ownership.

My keys was stolen in robbery so i replaced the old key ignition with new one but new keys do not have chip and car won''t start what can i do p.s lost the old ignition

You must get a new ignition at dealer, then your dealer will have to program the key it will never start without that chip..

There is a series of two videos addressing a very similar problem with a 1989 Corvette, first one diagnosis, second one fix. Seems like this is a not unusual problem for these older Corvettes. Check out the links.

Lost car key

Yes it is a coded key, the problem is without the resistance value of the original key (the little piece of resistive wire embedded in the key shaft) you will have re-program the system to the new key value. The keys will run about $20 US each and the programming about 1/2 hr or $50. Do yourself a favor get two keys done.
