When idle, sometimes the Jeep's RPMs will fluctuate, it will sound as if it's going to quit on me momentarily, then go back up and do it over and over again. I've had it since 2010, it's now 2013. I bought it in new condition off the lot at a Germain Nissan location. It's my first vehicle and know almost nothing about vehicles at all. My neighbor is helping me with it. He doesn't know what is wrong. Hopefully it's not an expensive fix.

get new plug wires and make sure they arn't arking acoss or touching the manifold

check for vacum leaks using a spray bottle of water when the idle frops you found it if water wont work try starting fluid or carb cleaner if useing these the idle may increase when you find it replace/repair the hose and see if its still happending could also be a combination of things idle speed control motor idle air control motor mass air flow sensor good luck

TRY THIS.
Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

The check gauges light is normal because at 400 rpm it isn't running fast enough to build sufficient oil pressure. I am guessing maybe a vaccum leak???

Have shop run an OHM test on your transmission sensors -- then have them replaced and rerun the OHM test. -- it's more than likely an input speed sensor that is not working properly and telling the jeep to go into "limp mode" hence your speed isn't changing but it can't read the actual speed.
