HI, my 1998 toyota camry XLE's engine short block was broken. I was thinking of replacing a whole engine like toyota camry 4 cylinder of 2000 to my old 97 toyota camry. Will it work ok?

Check out the videos, but first you might want to try some Oil Seal Conditioner which makes the seals supple and swell up. Look at Scotty Kilmer YouTube channel and put in 'oil seal conditioner'.
I would have to say no. in 2002 the change the electronics and maybe other stuff. and there is 2 different engines you didn't add that. the blocks might be the same but you would have to change a lot of parts to make it work with the different engine management system
Most likely a broken wire in the harness from front drivers door...open up and cut off the rubber boot and fix broken wires...they tend to break after a few thousand opens and closes...then wrap with electrical tape to replace the rubber boot...Lee
Regarding the short circuit: Open the trunk lid. Locate & examine the wiring that comes from the driver side of the trunk, and snakes up the driver side trunk lid support. Follow the wire harness down under the rear parcel shelf; untape the wiring harness. You are prob going to find some broken/shorted wires here. This is a very, very common problem.
Regarding the check engine light; sorry, without a DTC from Autozone, I cannot comment on a solution.
There should be an access panel.
Pull up on the back seat at the front edge to dislodge the locking clips.
Note that the clips can be a really tight fit.
