Checked all the ground wires i could find. starter wires seem to be ok and alternator and battery was fine before i started transmission replacement.
If your jumping Fromm battery to battery it has to be the battery.if the car sat outside in cold weather for a while the battery voltage could of got low and it froze which ruins battery.
the car was running fine before i changed transmission, could i have forgotten to hook something back up.
changed battery problem still the same..
WELL AFTER ALL THE CHARGING PROBLEMS WERE FIXED THE NEW TRANSMISSION DOESNT HAVE 3RD GEAR OR DRIVE AND VERY LITTLE POWER IN 2ND AND LOW GEAR. DID i GET A BAD TRANSMISSION OR DOES IT NEED TO BE PROGRAMMED TO THIS VECHICLE?? dOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS

Have you verified the engine will turn over by hand? Disconnect the battery, get a socket that will fit the crankshaft bolt and try to turn the engine over. If OK, reconnect your battery cables, use your digital volt meter, place the negative lead of the meter to the positive battery cable post and the positive meter lead to the start solenoid stud at the starter. You should not see more than 0.5 volts. If you see more than that, your positive cable is bad.
Repeat the same step with the negative cable, result should be the same.
Start there and let me know.

RAP stands for Retained Accessory Power. It is the circuit responsible for powering accessories when the key is off. Sounds like something is staying on that shouldn't. Hard to say what though with the information here. if this started happening right after you put in the new radio i would check into that. otherwise start checking accessories like power mirrors, seats, locks and see it something is staying on that shouldnt. i good one to check would be the glove box light or the light under the hood. you can unplug them and then test your draw to see if thats where is was.

Not to well versed on the S-10 electrical system but I would take a look at the voltage regulator.
It sounds like there is a malfunction that charges your battery sometimes but shorts out the alternator other times. Try having it tested or replace it
WD-40 will not do the trick for cleaning your terminals. WD-40 was developed during the 2nd WW to combat moisture in radio equipment in the South Pacific. WD stands for water displacement and the 40 is for formula #40. To clean the terminals you must disconnect them and use an abrasive such as emery cloth to remove the corrosion. They should be brite and shiny when you put them back together. I always cote mine wit dei-electric grease before re-assembly
