You have to pull the codes from the OBDII Reader

  • blustu Jul 13, 2013

Once you have the code you can look it uphttp://www.bluejag.co.uk/diagnosticcodes... . If you are buying an OBD II reader take care that it is suitable for the car, there are some cheap ones from China that will provide the fault indication also but this may be incorrect as they are based on generic faults and not Jaguar faults, this can be very mis-leading.

Duramax diesel w/allison trans; went into limp mode while towing 8000lbs; cooled down ran fine till it heated up again then limp mode; unhooked and drove 200 miles, ran fine; afraid to tow again help

Does the transmission have an over heat switch? That is the only thing I can think of. If so, you need to add another transmission cooler to assist the one you have for those heavy loads.

My 2002 Hyundai accent won't go past 40 miles per

Get the codes pulled, sounds like you are in limp mode and I am guessing an issue with the transmission.

What is limp mode?

Hi, limp mode or (limp-in mode or limp-home mode)occurs when your computer in your car is not communicating with the sensors on your engine. On some cars(volkswagon Passat for example) If you disconnect the battery then the computer will lose all of the settings and will go into limp-in mode.
The car will have little power and a top speed of only about 30 miles per hour.
The function of limp-in mode is to get you to a place that can repair the car but the car is barely drivable.

2002 Impala: transmission limp mode...

Most transmissions have a limp mode, or limp-home mode.
If the driveline computer thinks there is something wrong, it can lock the transmission into one gear, such as 2nd gear. Usually reverse will also be available. The Impala automatic has 4 speeds. 2nd speed or gear will get you home, but the engine rpms can get a little high. I wouldn't get on the expressway will in limp mode.
Before taking to the shop, you might want to try and reset limp mode by turning the car off for a couple minutes, or you may have to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

04 Jag xj8 set brake code is on---limped home

When this happens, usually you have to replace the Computer. There is a chance you just didn't reset it when you took to cables off. Remove them and tape or hold them together for 5minutes or longer. If it still does it, I would get a book and find out where the code is to lead you. With the obd it only gives you a starting point in the diagnosics. You may have air in your lines that need bled, a sensor out, or just plain adjustment of the cables. But it shouldn't go into limp home mode unless you lost your Engine Control Monitor. Oh, I didn't click the read more button. Check the E-brake cables. You may have run over something that hooked it and ripped it loose. The Jags can tell if the cable is too far out of adjustment. It's under the car, cable should go through the floor and run to the rear of the car and Y out to the rear wheels. Good luck.

2002 chrysler town and country wont leave limp mode

try getting a new shift solenoid for it. i had the same problem on my 2002 chrysler town and country and my plymouth breeze which is also a dodge product. it is very simple to do and doesnt take all that long. the part will probably run you about 150 to 200 dollars but it should fix your problem.
