How do I change the passenger headlight bulb on my 2002 Audi A6?

My manual says I should take it to the shop, but that is at least a $100 event. Surely I can change the bulb on my own realively easy.

It's a 2002 Audi A6 wagon. Passenger side bulb is out.

Directions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do I have to change the whole headlight if my low beam is out on the passenger side

You can replace just the bulb. There is a cover that clips onto the back panel of the headlamp. Take that cover off and pull out the socket that the bulb twists into. Then you can replace just the bulb itself.

Headlights

If you are only changing the bulbs, on the back of the headlight assembly, you'll see two metal retainers that hold the rear cover to the assembly.  Pop those outward from the headlight, and the rear cover will be loose.  Pull back on it, and you'll see the bulbs.  Turn the retainer counter-clockwise, and it will pull off, allowing you to remove the bulb.  Installation is the reverse of removal.
