I have a 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6. When driving up a grade the altinator stops charging, it shows in the instrument panel CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE. It stays like that until I pull in & put the transmission in park, then it's good 'till the next hill, when the strain comes on the motor. What is the problem?

For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.

SOURCE: charging system failure

Hello! The problem you are experiencing is most likely due to a fautly or malfunctioning alternator. You can take the car to any major auto parts store, and they can do a FREE charging system test which will tell you if your alternator is operating (and charging the battery) properly, as well as if your battery is accepting the incoming charge from the alternator.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Have your (alternator) Charging system tested ! .This is a computer controlled charging system .
The body control module (BCM) is a class 2 device. It communicates with the powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM) and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) for electrical power management (EPM) operation. The BCM determines the output of the generator and sends the information to the PCM/ECM for control of the generator field control circuit. It monitors the generator field duty cycle signal circuit information sent from the PCM/ECM for control of the generator. It monitors a battery current sensor, the battery positive voltage circuit, and estimated battery temperature to determine battery state-of-charge (SOC). The BCM performs idle boost and load management operations.
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)/Engine Control Module (ECM) The PCM/ECM directly controls the generator field control circuit input to the generator. It monitors the generator's generator field duty cycle signal circuit and sends the information to the BCM. The PCM/ECM will override the BCM control of the generator when one of the following conditions is met:
?€¢
The engine cooling fans are on high speed.

?€¢
There is a high fuel demand.

?€¢
The calculated ambient air temperature is less that 0?°C (32?°F).

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

Changed rear pads and rotors. Message on i/p says "service abs"

Disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes or clear with a code reader. Shops charge plenty to do that.
