Check the earth wire, sometimes they are lose enough to be problematic. Although if turning over and not firing up, does sound like immobiliser issue. Are you using the master key? although I'm not sure about 1994, should deativate once unlocked with key, unless after market alarm set up

More info needed. Is this a stick or automatic transmission? Check to see if you get power at the starter "trigger" wire (small wire on the front of the starter) If you don't, you might have a bad neutral safety switch (automatic) or a bad clutch safety switch (manual trans). You could also have a bad starter relay (under dash, left of steering column)

You did not mention wether it was an automatic or stick shift.
The wire running to the starter soleniod will run through either the clutch switch or the neutral safety switch to prevent the vehicle from starting in gear. This will be the most likely cause of your problem.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck

SOURCE: I have a 95 BMW 318. The car will not turrrrn off.

The only way I can see you can turn this off safely is pull the fuse for the fuse pump. Its #11 7.5amp located under the hood up in the corner. Problem is your still going to be powered up like on accessorie position so you may want to unplug the battery. Be careful tho. You may have memory stuff that you need before you disconnect.

try starting in neutral. Check to be sure the fuel pump inertia switch is reset.

It sounds like a bad starter or starter solenoid.
fuse diagram in owner manual., pro center, tech info, owner manual, look in index for fuse. report results.

Starter went out having trouble finding a starter that will bolt up. Tried 2 starters already the holes in the replacement starters dont line up. Car is a 1990 Buick Skylark.

that must not be original motor maybe. I'm sure there can only be two or three diff motors. take old one in with you and pull all avail starters for that car and match it up.

Replaced battery, went to start it and it wouldnt, turned key and all it does is click once, motor does not turn over and im pretty sure the starter isnt engaging

The starter sounds like it has a bad solenoid, but in this case the starter will have to be replaced to get a new solenoid and starter together.

If the battery is new and the connections are good, then a starter should fire the car right up.
In this case it is not, so I would say it's a starter.

I assume you were having trouble starting the vehicle, so changed the battery.

im having the same problem. I went to one place and they said I needed a new starter. So I took it to another and they said the wires to the starter were not good and needed to be replaced, they put in a new battery also. Then 2 days later it wouldnt start again. So I took it back they diagnosed it and could not find a issue with it. So the guy told me it is something electrical most probably a relay of a sort. A coworker told me to go to a electrical specialist.

Not starting

It was the security Passlock system on my car as well. I did't notice that the security light had come on the first time. Look up Passlock in the owners manual.
  1. You can reset it yourself for free by turning the key to accessory position
  2. Leave for ten minutes on accessory mode.
  3. Turn car off completely
  4. Try to restart.
This fixed my problem on my own after I paid to have it fixed and it happened again the next day.
