Engine revving Hi, I have a renault megane scenic 1.6 R reg. The car sometimes revs by itself when car is in neutral, and when driving it 'pulls' you along, just had new exhaust as thought this might be the problem. When stopping at lights or junctions it revs up to 4000rpm. Any help appreciated, thanks i have a similar problem the car revs upto 2000 rpm when stationary on tick over. the car is also only fire on 3 cylinders ihave checked the plugs, leads and coils and they are all working fine. i have also checked the injectors and they are all working. Any suggestions please

Try cleaning the petrol cap. it breaths round the key hole. i boiled mine. sometimes if there is not enough air in the tank. pure fule goes into the carb. and makes the car race. take fule cap and boil it in water. you can use steradent in cold water if you prefer. muck gets stuck in them.

SOURCE: My Renault Megane Scenic S reg heater is not working

Most likely to be a faulty resistor block, which has 3 resistors and a thermal fuse controlling fan speeds 1,2 and 3, maximum speed 4 by-passes the resister block. It may also be poor electrical connections to the resistor block caused by overheating. Renault ask for approximately £350 to carry out repairs, a replacement resistor block will cost £50. If you decide to carry out the repairs yourself, be advised that if you are not competent to carry out such work you, could cause electrical damage or worse an electrical fire.

Inner door panel removal, renault megane scenic

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls
