My car spits and sputters and smell like its floading out and gooes through alot of gas
Find the fuel pressure regulator. you should see it mounted on the return line of the fuel rail under the plastic engine cover. it will have a small vacuum hose attached to it. Remove the hose and see if gas comes out of the regulator. If it does replace it immediately.

SOURCE: CAR RUNNING FUNNY
i heard of a cam position sensor going bad causing really bad gas mileage--5 mpg,or it could be the fuel regulator bad.i wouldnt run it like it is,change parts ,the the oil before trying to start it to avoid a fire,be really careful!!
SOURCE: Fuel leak (smell is in the passenger vent) but cannot be located.
sounds like it could be a leaking fuel rail. you should fix this very soon. if it is it is a fire hazard. that is if it is under hood and not underneath. look under vehicle and check for wet spots.
SOURCE: smell gas under hood see moisture on engine as
check for a fuel leak, some will leak along the side of the car A fuel leak. in the high pressure side also known as the feed line will cause it to crank over longer before it starts the car .. If the car is running check under the car 9 times out of 10 you will see fuel dripping from the area of the leak Its not too often you will find it if its not running...good luck

Disconnect the battery for about a half hour or so. This could clear the code and turn off the light. If it has a problem the light will return. If it does replace the spark plugs one at a time being sure the gap is perfect.

i check the fuel pressure reguoator and that is fine and it doesnt spit and sputter all the time some times i can drive it for a few days before it starts spitting and sputtering
Find the MAF sensor, it should be right on top of the throttle body. Start the car and wiggle the connector. If you hear a change in engine RPM replace the MAF and connector. Sometimes tapping lightly on the MAF itself will also cause the engine rpms to change.
