Run a fuel pressure gauge where you can watch it while you drive and see if you are loosing fuel pressure. Also make sure you do not have a restricted exhaust system.

TRY CHECKING THE WIRE CONNECTORS ON THE PCM WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FIREWALL. IT HAS THREE LARGE MULTI-WIRE CONNECTORS HELD IN PLACE BY THREE BOLTS. WIGGLE THE CONNECTORS WHILE TIGHTENING THE BOLTS CAREFULLY SO AS NOT TO BREAK THE FRAGILE PLASTIC ENDS. HOPE THIS SOLVES THE PROBLEM. KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: 2001 jeep grand cherokee wont reverse in

This could be an issue with the shift solenoid , but can also be caused by low fluid due to a leak, check your fluid. Is there a check engine light on, if there is it could be a solenoid issue.

Why is my 1999 grand Cherokee 4.7 v8 4x4 dragging in drive

so the car has power loss, that it?
if yes, that can be over 50 things.
ill do the short list.
1: engine power lacks, tune it up, this decade yet.
scan the PCM yet.
2: brake drag. (all 4 and emergency too) or ICE BOUND..
3: transmission slips or fails to up shift. or starts in wrong gear.
tires slipping on ice, that be a drag , kinda.

climbing over a 100% grade. (over spec)

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 8Cyl4.7L When when driving over 50 miles per hour will lose all power whats wrong?

When you say it loses power, do you mean electrical power or engine power ?
You would need to look at the fuse boxes for a loss of electrical power, and use a scanner or code reader to check the computer for trouble codes for a loss of engine power.

Driving car down road lacks power

If engine seems to run well and trans is not slipping, first item I'd look at is the catalytic converter. Hear any "wheezing" when you get on it hard?
Make any recent changes? tires etc?

My 1998 Chevrolet Malibu will not go into drive possibly due to the transmission overheating. Once the engine cools down, I am able to put into drive. Also the gears tend to slip.

Likely you are looking at this backwards. Slipping causes a ton of heat. Slipping is caused by worn seals inside the transmission that allow pressure loss and partial application of drive clutches which then slip. Only way to fix this is a rebuild. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but that's just the way it works!!!

My '94 Grand Cherokee Limited has no power in reverse.

It sounds like the reverse band is out of adjustment. Three things can cause this, reverse band, front clutch and the overdrive direct clutch. To test the band, drive the truck in manual low up to 25 mph. Then let off, if the transmission doesn't pull the engine down, the band needs adjusted. If the front clutch is the problem, 3rd gear will be act weird too. The only test I know of for the overdrive direct is to inspect it, so process of elimination will have to work. Hopefully the problem is the band, because you can pull the pan, service the trans, adjust the band, and be done. Any of the other problems and you are looking at a rebuild. Good luck.
