Yep worn universal joint bearings cause vibration at certain speed or vechicle under load.

My 1999 land-rover discovery is vibrating at 60-80,had the tyres checked all good, any thoughts ?

Depending on the vibration the speed you mention is when drive shaft vibrations are evident. Check all "U" joints for wear, check slip joints for wear especially the front shaft.Check wheel alignment for castor problems and check the steering shocky ( if fitted)

Replace front universal joint on a 1998 land rover discovery

Take the tire off, caliper & holder, 4wheel drive hub & use a ball joint tool to press the old one out & the new one in.

I am getting a cluncking noise from both front wheels when i corner. Not to bad at the moment but getting steadly worse.not sure if it is the cv joints or something else. It's a Discovery TD5 2001

Hi:
Your guess is good: most likely your CV joints are worn. It isn't usually a safety issue at first, because they start getting noisy and vibrate. If you want, inspect the rubber flex boots that cover and seal the CV joints. If you see any tears , or grease leaking out, that would indicate that they are due to be replaced, as dirt and grime has gotten into them.

I have a 1996 Land Rover Discovery XS TDI. There is play in the steering which is becoming worse with a clunking sound. I am looking for parts and am not sure which part I need to replace. Any ideas how...

you've got to jack the vehicle up and rock the tire/wheel assembly back and forth from right to left, as if being turned by the steering wheel while you look to see which joints are loose. if there's clunking, it will be very loose and obvious just by looking. sometimes though you've got to put your hand on the joint to feel for play.

Which serpentine belt do I need for my 2001 Land Rover Discovery II se7 ??? Pep Boy is offering me 2 differnet kind/types.

I have responded to this problem in the past. 2001 discos had an ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) option. ACE vehicles had an additional hydraulic pump for the system therefore ACE vs Non_ACE cars require different belts.
