Garage #1 -- car won't start -- new fuel pump, strainer, filter, and new distributor under warranty due to arcing in old one Garage #2 - tune-up - spark plugs, wire set, valve cover gasket set After G#1 car started up, engine ran horrible after several feet driven - hiccuping in idle and pulsating in drive, but starting up After G#2 - tune-up, test drive, okay, won't start @ garage after several tries and then started -no spark distributor, back to G#1 ??? maybe no fuel, maybe distributor, maybe wires (interior lit out and panel night lit off/on) Thanks for info.....
I owned the SAME CAR. Love it except when the Distributor went south. You can not tell if the spark is good enough... you can have a Spark on the outside but the compression will require a much stronger spark.
If they put the Distributor in wrong, then you will have an issue.
IF the Timing Belt was moved, then you are going to be fighting this for a while. Best to Start from Scratch with a Good Mechanic and see where it leads you.
If you spray Ether into the Air Box, does the car start? No Start, you have a SPARK ISSUE. STARTS, you have a Fuel Deliver Issue
THE DISTRIBUTOR's are KNOWN to be defective,... Mine was intermittent but when I finally dropped the $225 on a distributor, all of my problems went away.
Did they cross the Spark Plug wires and that is causing your issue? Check the Firing Order.
Test your Fuel Injectors.. Use a NOIDS LIGHT
Testimonial: "Thanks for info. Car still @#1G and he put another new distributor on it (since he didn't get a spark) and it wouldn't start initially, but now it starts. I'm leaving it there over the weekend for further testing -- it may not start after sitting around. He said that it's getting fuel."

The computer is located under the carpet, passenger side, where passengers feet would be. If the water was up to the console, your computer was doing the back stroke, and I'm afraid it drowned. Sorry! countrycurt0

I have a 1990 & it's fuel injected. If you have a carb then you got problems. It'll cost about $300 to fix it,there's no way around it. If it's loading up on fuel than it's probably the carb.

either have a shop scan it for trouble codes or buy a scanner your self at local parts store have OBDII scanner and find out for your self it could be a number of things.

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.
