I have a 91 Toyota Camry DX sedan that is "pre-owned", and the front passenger lock won't disengage (so I can't open the door). When you use the power locks, you can see the car trying to unlock the door, but the locking mechanism is stuck. Likewise the key's can't unlock the door and I can't pull up on the lock from inside the car. I've also tried putting pressure on the door so there's not as much tension when it tries to unlock, but no luck. I was able to get the door panel off a bit and there's no broken linkage and the electrical to the door appears go be fine... just a stuck lock down by where the latch holds the door shut. Having essentially a 3-door car has worked until now because I only use it to get myself to and from work. However we recently found out our main vehicle is in need of costly repairs and we can't afford that right now, so I'd really like to be able to use the car as a family car for a month or so until we can fix the other car. Any suggestions?
Your power door locke solenoid is seized. You will need to replace it. You are going to have to get the entire door panel off, and then reach in to manually pull the solenoid arm to retract the lock mechanism. Then the door will open.

I have the same exact problem with my driver's side door. How were you able to get the door panel off with the door closed? Were you able to fix the problem? Was it a stuck solenoid as "Toyota Ed" suggested? Thanks!
