I am trying to replace the left drive axle on a 1993 camry with automatic transmission and the axle will not go all the way into the transmission and keeps popping out. What can I do to solve this problem.

Remove the tire. remove the strut bolts. remove the axle nut. push the axle out of the hub(hammer out if necessary). Pull/push the hub away to get the axle completely out. Use a pry bar to get the axle out of the transmission. replace in reverse order. add fluid if necessary.
They are held in the transmission with a snap clip. Take a small flathead screw driver and wedge it in between the axle and tranny and turn axle clock wis and counter clockwise and it will come out. When you put the new one in, you will hear it ;; snap;; in place
this is typical problem on these models. Replace or rebuild the transmission, you may replace with a V6 camry transmission. Years 92-93 will fit. Hopefully this helps
I have a 93 MB 2.6 190E . went to junkyard, got same tranny, spent 500 bucks to replace. Drives fine. No metal shavings on mine either but changed tranny, ok.
