do you know how to retrieve codes via, check engine light? Cycle key, on, off, on,off, on, leave on & count flashes in 2 digits from check engine light. Example- flash, flash, flash, pause, flash flash, flash, is code 33. flash, flash, pause, flash, flash. is 22. when you get 55 that end of codes.

You need to find out what code is in the computer. Either have it scanned or flip the key on off on off on off on.(three times) The check engine light will flash to tell you the codes. ie 2 long flashes, followed by two short flashes would be code 22. It will repeat each code three times. It will start with code 12 and end with code 55. Code 12 is start code and 55 is end code. What ever codes come up between these codes, write them down and post.

Gauges act up and engine shuts off

What year and model is the van? If it's a 97-2001 caravan, then there were issues with the clusters cloking up, usually from an electrostatic discharge. Generally they would still run, just could'nt use the gauges. There is a printed circuit board on the back of the cluster that is succeptable to electric spikes. The most common cause is a spike induced from the secondary ignition cables into the main engine wiring harness. Look at the ignition wires on the rear of the engine, they may be routed too close to the harness under the upper intake plenum. The data bus wires run between all of the modules on the van and any electrical spike can cause this. There was also issues with spikes from the door lock actuators/latches. If they're buzzing when you hit the power locks this may be your problem.

Loss of electrical power

think this a problem for dealer mechanic with product knowledge, because all lights coming on then loss of power sounds like it could be an ECU fault being triggered by a sensor,or just a component in the ECU breaking down .It would need the computer connecting then running till fault shows up .sorry i couldnt give an instant fix
