SOURCE: Porsche 944 Turbo won't go into gear when motor is running.

Hi mate. I'm no Porsche expert but the most common diagnosis would be clutch failure. If you can shift (even some) gears with the engine off then this would be plausible. Before looking at the complete clutch, try the master and/or slave cylinder, it's more likely to be the master. Pop the bonnet and check the level of brake fluid in the reservoir, there is no "clutch fluid", it's just brake fluid. If it's below the minimum line, top it up then see if it engages gear. Get it checked out, but tell the mechanic your theory, he'll soon confirm it if it is.

Sounds like you have problems with the turbo as thee is a bearing there and you said it starts rattling once the turbo kicks in. There is one other thing, you may have internal engine damage as like you said, only 500 miles and some of that was racing. May not have been broken in properly. I know I was told you need to break an engine in for 500 - 1000 miles then change the oil. I hope this is not the case for you though.

I have a 1997 Porsche Boxster manuel 5 speed transmission that will go into all gears except reverse.. It just started.. Not sure what is the underlying cause/solution..

That doesn't sound good. Usually that's a transmission rebuild. Possibly a new clutch. Also could be something minor like a broken linkage, or misaligned linkage. These parts aren't easy to get to but if you have a list checking the linkage yourself might be a possibility. You'll likely need to take it to a specialist to really diagnose.

check the gear oil in the transmission Porsche is notorious for trans problems, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was leaking. too low a fluid and it will not go into any gear but the one that was last selected.

95 911 wing is stuck in the up position

Hello there
Your problem could be the rear gear is broken. It is located on the left inside your tail under the plastic cover. To remove use phillips screwdriver and try to diconect the gear cable. If the wing goes down it is the gear.If not the gear try to lok for an relay which is on pass.side under the dash-behing knee pad. This relay controls the manual and an electric operation.
