How to fix a door latch on a 1994 nissan pickup

One of my kids yanked on the latch and now the latch pulls half way out. If you hold the latch in it will open the door from the inside the truck.

I just joined 10 minutes ago.........I think I can help you.

Use a spoon or wide screwdriver to pop the plastic rivets that hold the interior of the door on. Takes some courage as they dont come away easily, about 8 in all.
1, Remove the window winders, by either pushing the "ring" that touches the interior till it stops and then slide the winder off the toothed stub.pop the cover off and use screwdriver/socket to remove winders.
2, Use old eating knife or wide bladed screwdriver around edge if soft interior of door and pry/pop the hidden plastic rivets, releasing the soft interior away from the metal or the door.

3, You may have to twist off the latch, just like a bottle cap.

4, You will see the wire coat hanger type metal that connects to the latch and locking mechanism.

If you have some grease with you you can also grease up the mechanisms for the lock, lock release, window, mirror.

That's how it is on my Volkswagen.
Good luck, Dave

SOURCE: 1991 Nissa D21 Door Latch broken

There isn't a book or manual detailed enough to show you the inner workings of this lock mechanism. You will more than likely end up damaging the door panel and the mechanism to get the door open. You could go to a junk yard and get a used latch, see how it works, and then jimmy yours open. Or you could buy a new one and do the same thing. Either way the door panel has to come off with the door open and the latch will probably be damaged. There is a little spring that comes off or breaks in the latch and causes exactly what you are describing. There could be other issues as well but it definately needs the latch replaced.

SOURCE: DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OF NISSAN ALTIMA 2002 ON DRIVER'S SIDE

There is a cable that attaches to the inside door latch release handle. The plastic that retains this cable is most likely broken. I have seen this before. If the retainer is not holding the cable sheath correctly, the entire cable moves when the handle is pulled and does not release the door latch.

Remove the door panel and inspect this cable. You will see 2 cables (one is for the door lock). If the plastic is broken, you will need a new interior handle assembly.

Hope this is helpful!!

SOURCE: fuel door release latch not working

Try Super Heavy Duty Lock Tight and attach it to the fuel door. Make small hole to feed the end of spring into then glue it down tight.

SOURCE: 2004 Nissan Murano, back door can't open

I had a similar problem with a sienna and sometimes the cable ( inside the door) between the handle and the latch gets stuck in the sleeve. Kind of like the brake cable on a bike.
take the panel off by removing all the screws you can see on the panel and pull the panel off. There will be plastic pins holding it. Some of them may pop off and some will break off.
Drip oil down the sleeve so the cable slides freely. I used bike chain oil. Do not use WD40. This is **** and will not work for very long. Try the handles a few times before you put the panel back.

SOURCE: Passenger side door will not open from inside or outside.

linkage on inside of door has come undone. take off inside door panel and you will find a small rod that goes to the lock mechanism where the door closes opposite the hinges. follow the handle to the door lock.the nylon bushing may have broken.they are cheap to purchase at auto part stores.

How do I get the passenger side door open?

Try taking off the inner door panel, usually attached with Phillips screws. In most trucks, this will allow access to the locking and opening mechanism. Once this is exposed, it should be relatively simple to pull the latch open.

How do you remove the door latch from the door panel on a 1990 toyota pickup?

One screw and you have to "pop" it forward. It started to slide out and find the locking climate on the top that holds the latch release rod. Its a turn clip. Turn it and pull the rod up and that should be it.

I have a 1994 BMW 325i and both of my rear doors won't close.. The latches just move freely. Any sujestions?

I didn't see the other posts but did you try to hold the door handle as to open the door and move the latch up so to open all the way. I have seen kids play and push the latch when the door is open and it latches it closed when the door is open and then the door won't latch because it's not on the bar to reset it in the right position, may want to try that.

94 nissan pickup latch wont open hood?

The hood latch cable pulls a lever over towards driver's side of car to open the hood. Pulling the lever releases the hood latch.
This is the lever that is not moving over far enough to release, and the one you need to get to. You are right to think of removing the grill. Is it easy to remove? Often, someone can lay underneath and reach up with a prying tool (a screwdriver) and push that lever over. But if it's too far to reach, or if it's obstructed by parts or support pieces, just remove the grill to reach the latch.
Good luck.

1994 Nissan door panel how do I get the escuscion around the door panel off so I can remove panel

IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE CORRECT TOOL TO REMOVE THE CLIP THAT HOLDS THE HANDLE ON YOU CAN USE A HOOK TOOL AND PULL THE U CLIP OUT OF THE HANDLE. IT IS UNDER PRESSURE SO BE CAREFUL AND KEEP AN EYE ON WHERE IT MIGHT FLY TOO. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IT ALL THE WAY OFF BUT SINCE YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT I WOULD TAKE IT ALL THE WAY OFF.

1994 Nissan Altima Passenger Door won't open

Since you have the door panel off, pul the rod for the door lock manually inside the door, this should unlock it, if it does not, there is a small push button, basicly a little peice of metal on the latch itself on the door latch inside the door, push it down this should pop the door open, you may need to spray all of the mechinisms with white lithium grease in a arosol can.....
