No. The Lincoln Continental does not have air bags in the front. It is not exactly hard to convert the rear airbags to springs. It is more time consuming than anything. I have a 1996 Town Car, I had a mechanic replace the air shocks with springs.
There is a park switch under the steering wheel shaft. Hard to get at. It uses your foot on the petal to de-activate. Switch could be blown.
May be a mechanic fix but look anyway.
If the engine revs that high, dont put it in nuetral, you may blow your engine. Is the engine light on? what code is in the system? Sounds like a faulty idle air control motor. (it is located on the throttle body assembly.
so i went to the mechanic and it turns out theres a few bolts under the steering wheel under the dash one of mine fell out causing the gear shifter to become loose but the hard part was taking the dash apart thats all it was and thankfully it was an easy fix
Look at the swith on the brake pedal, it shoud have two green wires on it. Make sure it is not melted or the wire is broken. If it is damaged you can connect the 2 wires together to get it into gear, but this should be temporary as it bypasses the neutral safety switch.
Thanks! I'm passing this on to my mom (it's her car).
