My daytime running lights wont work. The green light is on, but the outside lights just will not work. The emergency brakes are off. When I push the emergency brake in the green light does go off and when I release it then the green light comes back on, but still no DRL at all. Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix this. Man told me when I got it, that someone unhooked it, but I have looked under the dash, and everything looks to all be hooked up. Anyway I hope someone can help me and tell me what I can do to fix this. Thank you.

Had the same problem with my 97 Jetta it turned out to be the ignition switch. No problems since

hi the only way i know is to remove the fuse.other than that they cannot be turned off as this is a safty feature that was made standard on many cars and trucks.

Make sure Parking brakes are fully released and then check the diode under the dash, drivers side above right foot, remove diode and shunt tyhe connection if lights lite diode is bad. These diode reduce the power by 25% and are prone to fail
