How to unplug the power window & power lock wiring harness switches

They have a small plastic retaining hook on one end and are wider at the bottom than the top at the other end. When I pry the hook up, I cannot slide the switch without thinking that I need to exert enough pressure to break it. Is it still connected somewhere?

Then you either got the wrong bolt, or the knob part is still in the hole. Take a close look at the bolt you took out, and see if something may have broken off it. If it did, you might be able to get the rest out with a magnet. There is a threadless part on the end of the bolt that's about an inch long. It goes down against the tumbler and hold it in there. The newer ones are a torx head, but i can't remember if 78 is or not.

Power window switch repair to drivers door

You must remove the door panel to get the switch out of the plug.
.
1995 and up Marquis and Crown Victoria use an arrangement of 90 degree plastic hooks to hold the panel on. First, use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pry the cup from behind the door handle. You will have to hold the handle in the "opening" position to remove the cup completely. Then carefully pry up the window/rear view mirror/door lock switch panel (one clip at the front (narrow) end, one clip at the back (wide flat) end. Then wiggle and lift the outside edge of the panel up and away from the door to disengage the tabs at the back. There is some slack in the wire harness - get as much of this slack outside as you can. Locate and remove the Phillip's-head screw behind this panel. There are two other Phillip's-head screws retaining the panel: one is at the lower front corner of the door pocket, the other is at the lower rear corner of the panel. Remove these two screws. The panel should then slide upward, releasing the plastic hooks (7 or 8 of them)holding the panel flush against the metal door skin. DO NOT PULL THE PANEL OUTWARD UNTIL ALL THESE HOOKS HAVE BEEN DISENGAGED! It takes about 1/2" of upward travel to release the hooks. Once you feel the panel loosen from the hooks, it will be almost free at the top. Gentle wiggling upward will free it from the door. Then feed the switch panel (with wires attached) through the hole it left in the panel (must be fed lengthwise) carefully avoiding stressing any wires. That's it! When replacing the panel, feed the switch panel through first, then make sure to locate the lock knob in its hole. Then do everything else in reverse order. IMPORTANT NOTE: the plastic hooks are meant to be gently pushed into their respective slots first, THEN slid downwards to seat them properly. The door panel will be tight and flush against the metal if all the hooks are properly positioned. The plastic door panels are fragile enough without being broken up even more because the hooks were not paid attention to.

Remove the visible bolt from the left side of the arm rest.

Remove the window switch/door lock/mirror controls by popping the entire panel out, may need to use a flathead screwdriver.

Slide panel off of door.

Pull vapor barrier loose on the bottom right side. This will expose a coiled spring and window motor. Tape the window in the up position using masking or packaging tape.

Mark a straight line across the coil spring, to help with realigning the new motor.

Use tool j-38864 connect it near outer part of coil sprint where it hooks to retainer or in a pinch use pounted vice grips at same location ensuring they are firmly locked on spring.

Force spring clockwise to disengage it from it's retainer point.

Pull spring slightly outward just enough to clear the retainer point and slowly let it uncoil counterclockwise.

Disconnect wire connector from right end of window motor.

Push the three plastic retainer points outward as you lift up on window motor to disengage from retainers careful not to break the plastic retainers comes out pretty easy

Install new motor into the plastic retainers, make sure it is fully seated.

How do I remove the door panel on a 2000 honda accord?

If you have power windows or locks first remove the negative battery cable. If not you need to locate and remove the screws that hold the door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips).
If you have a manual window crank, you will need a small piece of wire with a hook on the end of it to remove the window crank (slide it behind the crank "base", hook the hook to the retaining clip and pull the retaining clip out).
If you have power windows, when you remove the handles unplug the wires to the window switches and door locks.
Next use a small prybar to remove the interior panel retaining clips (they're plastic clips that snap into the door). Get as close to the retaining clips as possible or directly under them to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel, and pry them out of the door.
Once the retaining clips are removed from the door, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door.

Installation is reverse.

I hope this information helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

04 jeep gc interior lights stay on, power windows, locks not work

Common issue with the early 2000 series Jeep is the window/door lock control on driver side goes dead when the thick guage wires in door become brittle and break from continually opening and closing the door. Had both the ground and hot wires break over the years and both are fixed by making a simple jumper connection with a little extra length added.

Fixing is relativly easy if you know how to crimp wire connectors otherwise you my want someone more experience to help.
Open door, pull back rubber sheath and expose wire harness, unclip the plastic retaining clip and pull out wire harness and located which wire has broken (typically the thick black or orange wire) . Prepare both ends for crimp connector and make a jumper with small peice of heavy guage wire and crimp connector of either end then connect each end to either side of broken wire, tuck wires back in, replace retaining clip and rubber sheath.

You can find videos on youtube showing how to fix
