Requires reading OBD-II (On Board Diagnostic) codes, interpreting codes and effecting a troubleshooting plan based on data provided. Codes are a symptom, not a diagnosis. My guess is a system communications failure which can be caused by any of a number of issues.

Check the fuel system. Cheap first....fuel filter. Then the fuel pump. The engine does actually turn over, but it just won't start...correct?

SOURCE: 2002 Kia Rio runs rough when idling

well spend some change and have a simple tune-up.  Plugs and filters and readjust the idle.

SOURCE: 2006 kia rio jerks at stops, stalls out, and recently shut off

Atuomatic trans sliping , or manual trans clutch sliping should not cause stall. sounds more like fuel or ignition problem.

I am thinking that one of the " upgraded items " ?? is not much of an upgrade.

Be carefull of kia's , The timing belts are famous for breaking and destroying the engine even before the recomended replacement mielage.. If it breaks , they don't warantee it because you never had the belt adjusted. Funny , they recomend adjustments but not part of the scheduled maintainance.

when your car starts geting close to 80,000 Km's / 50,000 miles have the belt done , but I wouldn't have it done at a dealership. It's a 1/2 hr job that a dealership might charge 2 hours for. I avoid dealerships ( for any make of car ) at all costs , unless they are doing free warantee or recall work. ( I take that back , I have had good experiances with Honda dealerships )

SOURCE: Kia Rio Died suddenly while Driving - Now will not start -

maybe your fuel pump stop working or a blown fuse for the fuel pump or ignition coil. First checked for blown fuses

SOURCE: 04 kia rio , engine made noise than stopped ,now wont turn over.

That's what happened to mine when the timing chain broke.. my 04 cinco had about 80k miles on it at this point. Unfortunately I warped the valves when it happened so it cost a small fortune to fix :(

My 2004 Kia Rio starts fine but shuts off after 4-5 seconds. The funny thing is if I shift to Drive within the 4-5 seconds, it stays on, but in Park or Neutral, it will shut off.

in the causes for p0753 code there is a shift solenoid ( which you have replaced ) also TCM and a ECM. The transmission TCM (transmission control module ) is responsible for most of the problems so have it checked out especially the wiring and connectors to the TCM

2001 Kia Rio with brand new battery and alternator will start sometimes or with a jump but then shuts off. Jump it and it may run for a few minutes and quit again or work for days then just quit. ...

Sounds like you have a bad connection at the battery, wiggle the terminals they are very thin on that car. Check all your major grounds under the hood. All of that assuming the battery is in good condition

I just bought a 04 kia rio wagon , it idles good at first , but when you drive it for about 40 miles ,after it gets good and warmed up , the car will not idle , then when you let it sit for a few minutes ,...

I would look at the purge valve, EGR valve and all the vacuum lines to start. It sounds like a vacuum leak. Some that is closed at start up and opens after it is warm, but not shutting back off as the engine idles down. this causes to much air in to the engine and will cause it to idle bad or keep shutting off on you at idle only

Kia Rio died in traffic. Will not start.

Hello Kia Owner,
Regarding the shut down, when was the last time you changed the timing belt?? Did you know that the twin cam 1.5 lirte motor needs a new belt every 50,000 miles or 80,000 kms.
If the belt has failed it may still be in tact but with the cogs ripped off.
Your valves have collided with at least one piston but it is good you were only idling at the time.
The motor may be worth fixing. I just fixed mine myself. I had to lift the engine after removing the axles. I removed the old timing belt and removed and rebuilt the cylinder head(big job). Two exhaust valves were boken right off and lying inside one cylinder.
Most likely your timing belt failed as well.

2002 kia rio fuel pump not starting

you may have to get a new wiring harness for it or create a jumper to run to the fuse box so that it only comes on when the car is on and shuts off with the car.

Kia rio stars and shuts off.

How did you test spark? Did you test the coils with multimeter etc for resistance at least. 12V.

Check the ignition switch.
2.) Also if the timing belt jumped teeth this could cause your symptoms as well.
