95 Olds won't start after driving it, says hot

After driving the car to a couple places, it will state hot in temp gauge area, but gauge stays in normal operating temp area, and it won't start, or it will start, run very rough, and die out. If I wait a few hours, then it will restart. The more I drive it the worse it gets. Also, recently, the gas pedal has begun to stick. The car will run rough, then gas pedal sticks, and it dies out. It has only done this one day so far in past two weeks.

Hi. This issue has several causes, but the oil light indicator is a strong sign of low pressure in the engine. This will cause the engine lubrication rate to drop, thus, producing a illuminated oil light, and erratic Oil pressure readings. The necessary actions are to have a manual oil pressure test ran on this engine, asap. When running a manual oil pressure test, you will discover if the true oil pressure is low, or normal. If the test proves that the oil pressure is, indeed, low, this will confirm that the Oil pump is suspect.

Now, if the true readings given during the manual oil pressure test are indicating that the pressure is normal, this will be the result of a failed sending unit(oil pressure switch). Although the oil pressure is suspect, this is not your only issue here. There seems to be a abnormal compression rate, present. This is causing the rough idle, and erratic RPMs. I recommend to administer a engine block compression test, as well. This test will discover if , indeed, there are issues within the cylinder heads, and block structure, such as a worn head gasket, cylinder wall issues, and cracked block. Normally, these issue will send signs, like white, or gray smoke out the tail pipe, or discolored oil. It will, also, promote erratic RPM ratings, and a rough idle. Have the oil pressure test, and engine block compression test ran, asap.

Once the test are administered, you will be able to isolate the actual problem areas, more accurately. Check the spark plug wire sets, and ignition assembly for faults, also.

Aftermarket fuel pump failure? Try "thepartsladi" store on eBay for low price GM OEM parts. Could also be wiring harness to fuel pump.

I have a 2004 Elantra, the temp gauge goes up to 3/4 within 5 minutes of driving...and remains there...never overheats...just stays at that high hot temp ...there is enough coolant and the fans are...

The sensor for the gauge could be faulty.
The thermostat could also be faulty, there is a small window between the thermostat opening at 195 and the coolant boiling at 220.

Your first problem is to find out why the intermittent no-power problem. Honestly, that sounds like a loose conmnection somewhere. check all your grounds for clean and tight conditions Also, battery connections and alternator connections. Double check your power distribution center for any loose wires or poor connections. Once you solve that problem, then you can diagnose the other problems with poor idle and temp. gauge.

The temp gauge says the engine is hot but, in

I'm not certain if this engine has coolant bleeder valves, but if it does, make sure there aren't any pockets, particularly around the sending unit. Something is fooling the computer into thinking that things are really, really hot.
