Gas smell I have a 2000 pontiac grand am gt. Recently i got into my car after i had let it sit to warm up and when i got in it, it smelled really bad like gas. But as i start to drive down the road the smell will go away. But when i park my car and get out it smells like gas. I have had my gas lines and gas tank all underneath looked at and its not leaking no wheres. Any suggestions and what it might be? Also my car has been using more gas than it normally does,.

There has to be a leak in the fuel system. Has it been checked while running? There will be at least 2 lines. One will be pressure and the other is a return.

SOURCE: 99 pontiac grand prix smells hot after driving 30 minutes

If the temperature gauge looks good (under 3/4) its all good. If not, then there is a problem. If it smells hot inside, like moist and humid you will need to replace the ac filter, that can be located under the hood, close to the water resevoir, you will have to pull the ruber type gasket that is on the edge of the hood/wiper cover.

Air conditioner smell

Every single grand am I have owned does this!! They seem to have a gas smell when running the ac, or if it is extremely hot outside..It was the coil pack on 2 of mine. The extra load of the ac..the other was it makes the car run hotter. I just rigged my radiator fan to run constantly and the smell went away.

1999 pontiac grand am exaust smell

If your blower motor is in the engine compartment, I suspect you did not get a good seal around the housing when you reinstalled it. Usually a foam gasket.
For now, push the recirc button so you are drawing air from inside the car into you heater system. Recirc doesn't work on defrost or floor/defrost.

Fuel?

It may be due to a failed/faulty fuel pressure regulator. I had this problem: easy start when cold, hard starting when warm/hot, and rotten egg smell from exhaust when warm/hot. My mechanic diagnosed a failed/faulty fuel pressure regulator, replaced it, and now the problems (warm hard start, smell) are gone. I have a '92 GT with L4 engine.

Smell Gas

Well korodiver it sound like the carborator was linking and then it leaked so much that no gas was getting to the carborater. The only thing that will fix your problem is just get a clean peice of cloth and push the acclerator and it will open the valves then just wipe out the carborator and it should fix it.
