Car was mildly squeaking for a couple weeks. The alternator died and my husband replaced it along with the serpentine belt and belt tensioner. Squeaking seemed to be gone for about a week but returned. It has gotten progressively worse to the point that it's deafening in closed in areas. Used to go away when I would accelerate but now gets slightly worse with acceleration. For some reason it occasionally gets much worse when I turn the lights on. The noise seems to be coming from the passenger side. What could it be and how can we fix it? Thank you!!
My guess is a pully is going bad on the tensioner. The new belt had more grip so it was able to force the bad pully to turn but now that the new belt is a bit worn it's beginning to slide as the pully gets worse...Does tha make sense? Solution: Remove the belt and turn each pully by hand. The pully's should turn very easily without ANY struggle. If you find a pully that has any stiffness ...(Or is hard to turn).....thats the bad one. Replace the bad pully and you will be a happy camper

it is more than likley your alternater belt will your car is turned off try pulling the belt back and forth if you can move the belt it needs to be tightened
SOURCE: TCS ABS lights on & alternator not fully charging
Alt shoud be putting out 14 to 15.2 volts.
could be the clutch fan if your fan doesn't come on. also the belts could be to tight or the alternator belt. good luck.
