Question about Cars & Trucks

Trailblazer won't start

The blazer has been sitting a couple of months....I bought a new battery yesterday and when I turn the key I have nothing. The lights etc work but it's just dead....doesn't turn over or anything. I tried tapping the starter and that did nothing. When I sat the car the alarm didn't work....now it goes off everytime you open the door? I'm wondering if that has something to do with the car not starting?

Your Central locking wire is short from any one door side. Please check it properly.

SOURCE: Car won't start. Believe kill switch is engaged.

Do you have a chipped key {small black thing in the middle of the key} if not you need to take your registration into the dealer and order a new key.

SOURCE: 1999 chevy lumina will not start

If you crank the engine with the headlights on and the lights do not go dim there is no current going to the starter. This could be;

  • A worn ignition switch, usually caused by a heavy bunch of keys swinging on the switch for years. Try and crank the engine whilst wiggling the key in the switch. If it cranks, that is your problem.
  • The starter solenoid might be dead, so it won't allow the starter to crank.
  • Doubtful, but a blown fuse.

SOURCE: 2000 Hyundai Tiburon will not start

There is NO possible electrical cause (within REASON) which would create the problem you describe. I assume you tried the Keyless Entry Remote to DIS-ARM the anti-theft system. If the ALARM system was activated, it will stay activated until it's de-activated by the remote (typical design feature). The best SOLUTION is to take vehicle into Hyundai an have the problem diagnosed.

need to check the charging system..when a car sits for a long time the battery should be disconnected or compl,etely removed..sounds like operating voltage is too low check the alternator for stuck brushes or malfunctioning regulator..should show around 14.5 -16 volts..

This might be due to a failing antitheft system. Very common on GM vehicles. This link explains. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2003 Trailblazer- no power after key stuck in ignition

Sounds like an antitheft problem I would start with the antitheft system. Usually when you only have one key all keys have to be programmed together even the original. When you have more than one it is easy to program additional keys.

Brand new battery installed, still no power?

YOU COULD HAVE A VERY BAD CONTECTION FROM BATTERY TO STARTER, TRY TO ATTACH LEAD DIRECT TO STARTER (LARGE FEED CONTECTOR) FROM JUMP BATTERY AND THEN CRANK WITH FULL BATTERY, IF SAME STARTER IS JAMMED OR SIEZING UP
