I have a 2009 Nissan Altima. It just started to idle very rough when it's in drive-at low rpm, like when stopped in traffic or at a light. It does not do it when it's in Park, Neutral or Rever

Might be the CAM & CRANK SENSORS ! HAVE YOU CHANGED YOU AIR & FUEL FILTERS LATELY ? DO SO IF YOU HAVEN'T. DID YOUR SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COME ON ? IF SO, GO TO AN AUTOPARTS STORE, HAVE THEM PULL OUT ANY TROUBLE CODES,FROM ECM, IF IT SAYS CAM SENSOR, REPLACE THE CRANK SENSOR AT SAME TIME ! ALSO, THE OXYGEN SENSOR PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE, YOU MIGHT REPLACE IT ASWELL . ALWAYS KEEP FILTERS NEW, OIL CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

SOURCE: High Idle

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima and mine did the same thing. We replaced the intake gasket. It costs around $5.50, but it requires several different kinds of tools. We spent over $100 in special sockets, etc. But once you replace that gasket, it will idle better.

Have a 2010 nissan altima when driving in highway it drives good but when i come out of highway and make a light stop cars starts to shake and rpm goes up and down what's wrong

When the vehicle stays in overdrive because the switch on the brake pedal is out of adjustment, at low speed engine is being lugged down and that's why it shakes like that. If your vehicle has an overdrive button to turn it off and on, when your coming to a stop, turn the OD off and see the difference. Get the overdrive switch on the brake lever adjusted or replaced.

My 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 is idling at 800 rpm's, and my service engine soon light came on. The code read for a Chrysler? P1283, and Fuel pump module detected an incorrect low idle, low idle select...

Make sure you are looking up the code properly. 1283 for Nissan indicates a lean condition on bank 2. See link below. A vacuum leak is likely, but make sure the new sensor is recalibrated. Did you perform the relearn procedure after replacing the sensor? If not, see the second link below. If you ran the relearn procedure and cleared all codes but 1283 comes back, look for a loose vacuum line or leaky intake manifold gaskets. Hi my nissan maxima 1997 is having some problems like idle is very low when the engine is warm! then while driving it was ok but when you stop at the intersection or traffic lights the "IDLE drops...

Sounds like your idle air control valve, after time they get dirty and cause low and/or rough idle. They also cause vehicle to just die when idling or taking off from a stop sign. Unforntunately they cannot just be cleaned, as this ruins the finish inside of the unit. Check your local parts store, they can be pretty expensive units to purchase; however, they are usually fairly simple to install, good luck! :)

Hi, I have a 2006 Altima with 31,500 miles. Recently, the engine start shaking when car is Idle but I still feel the shake when driving or at red lights. My second problem is a weird loud (humming) noise...

You don't need to change the spark plugs since it has only 31.5 K. The plugs should last 60K. There is a an adjustment at the gas cable end at engine to increase the idle a little bit. You can increase rpm at idle to 600 RPM. Since your RPM at idle is low that why it is shaking at idle, red lights. Let me know it it is shaking at high speed ( 2500 RPM)

Oil Pump light flickering + rough idle on 1996 Nissan Maxima

Sounds more like the Throttle Position Sensor or another sensor is letting the engine RPM's drop too low. When the RPM's are too low, the oil pump is not pumping enough oil.
