I bought a 2003 Ford f250 super Duty used with a v10 Triton engine, I was driving home from work and switched the AC on it was working fine but I heard a noise like I ran over something so I shut the Ac off and rolled windows down to hear the noise but there was no noise so I turned AC back on and the noise came back - no AC no Heat just a noise
The a/c noise is either the clutch going bad and slipping which is very common on the V10. When its slips its not pumping, a clutch kit can be bought at any parts house for around $45-$50.00. About 30 minutes to put on. The other is a pump bearing going bad, which isn't a quick fix and needs the whole pump replaced, if that's the case always replace a new dryer when replacing the pump,, I would put money on the clutch...
SOURCE: Ford f250 super duty V10 cruise control doesn't work.
WOULD CHECK BRAKE SWITCH FIRST AS THESE HAVE A HIGH FAILURE RATE.
