1996 Buick Regal Gran Sport 3.8 about 80,000 miles runs excellentRadiator is clean New coolant New Thermostat New cooling sensor in block
Thermostat opens about a little under 170 degrees
Car runs cool Radiator full of coolant Coolant overflow tank full and at proper level

Thanks for your input, the sensor is in the block, there is not one on the radiator on this model of the 3.8 V6

If it continues to go on and off I'll disconnect it as you suggested.

    Thanks again!

When you say "radiator tank", are you talking about the overflow resevour?

The low coolant sensor should be located in the passenger side radiator tank, You need to take it out and clean the sludge off of it for it to work right. Or you can just unplug it and forget about it, the light will go out and it won't cause any problems.

The low coolant light keeps going on and off . I took it out and cleaned it. It was packed with muck.

Try replacing the sensor and check the connection to make sure there is nothing inside the terminals. Good Luck.

Low coolant light flashes on and off

It's your coolant level sensor on the radiator. It's located right beside the battery. Remove the battery, headlight, and drain about a quart of coolant from the radiator. Try to clean it, if that doesn't work get another one, or if you're keen on your fluid levels, just unplug it.

How do you fix low coolant light flahs on and off

Sounds like either you're low on fluid to where it's sloshing around, or the sensor/float could be faulty. Check your fluid level and fill if necessary, otherwise, take it to a mechanic and have it evaluated.

When my 94 Regal GS frequently wouldn't start for 30 minutes to an hour after being driven, it was the crankshaft positioning sensor that needed to be replaced. I also replaced the harmonic balance pulley. The car ran more smoothly and started everytime.
